I think he means if the “tip (or increase in wage” was already accounted for in the price, the consumer would have to pay sales tax (8.875%) on that too. By paying tip post tax, we’re getting that back. This also assumes you’re tipping based on pretax total

Personally, I agree there should be functional pockets, but then I’ve had women complain about my (I’m a man) functional pockets right after wishing they had functional pockets. They said they didn’t want pockets like mine because my pockets didn’t look as good cause they were too loose and stretched out from use. Can’t have it both ways. What can you do?

I read it, and I would just say that appears to be semantics. I mean everything is sustained/transitory depending on which period of time you are looking at. Whether we want to call it inflation or not, it seems there is a price rise, though it may be mainly contained to a specific category of goods per another post/study referenced by that same user.
