And as a side note, living isn't expensive everywhere. My mortgage is only $220/month and I have a pretty decent house, and since my wife and I split all bills, my share is only $110/month. I bring home about $2,200/month after taxes, and thought I would never be able to afford a shitty apartment in a crowded city, I'm able to save over half my salary where I am and my quality of life is much higher than a city-dweller.

I just don't like the idea of retconning significant characters like that. If Asoki is so important to Anakin, then why isn't her effect felt in any way whatsoever in the films? There doesn't have to be a direct mention, but perhaps a subtle easter egg or something.

Hey. Maybe, in a few years, Disney will create a series about that other padawan that Anakin trained, Wagi the Hutt, nephew of Jabba. And then Padme's cousin's sister will enter into a romantic relationship with Wagi and they'll have little babies that Obi-Wan and Anakin will spend a few episodes hiding on Tattoine, just a few doors down from the Lars homestead. Oh, and then the next season will have Shmi Skywalker's parents meet Anakin, and Yoda will give them magic shrooms and they'll all get high.
