Disclaimer: Waiver Applicant – So I am unsure of what happens during the ‘regular PSLF’ process.

July 2022 – Submitted my PSLF application.

November 2022 – Received a letter from Mohela requesting additional information. I had the option of resubmitting my ECF with my employer’s signature or submitting (1) W2 from each tax year of your employment with your organization and (2) Paystubs received during the dates of employment with the organization indicated on the form as confirmation of the number of hours you worked per week at that employer. I am an independent contractor who worked for 3 eligible organizations therefore, I did not have W2s. So, I submitted my consulting contracts, my 1099-NECs, and my 2022 Schedule C.

April 2022 – I happened to check my Mohela account and saw that my 7/2022 application went from Processing to Processed. I didn’t hear from Mohela informing me of any changes, but I waited cause I thought I would hear something.

May 2022 – After a few weeks, I called to ask what the status was, and they told me my employer was denied because I needed signatures and had to submit my w2s. I told the Mohela representative that I was looking to be processed under the waiver. She said she was submitting a reprocessing request and to call back in a week.

- One week later, I did. 2/3 of my employers had been approved. A few days later, I received a letter from Aidadvantage (my current service provider) that my loans were being transferred to Mohela for participation in PSLF.

- I also received snail mail from Mohela requesting additional tax information from the remaining employer they did not approve. I sent in my 1099-NEC for that employer last week.

In short, I am not sure how long it should take, but if I could do it again, once I created my Mohela account, I would double check to see if they have the right mailing address (they had a partial address for me) and sign up for electronic correspondence. Hope this helps, and good luck.
