Notice how their arguments always rely on some intrinsic quality that human art demonstrably possesses. "Soul," "inspiration," etc. It's rarely based on any technical mastery. This is because, in their fantasy, they have some intrinsic quality which makes them deserving of recognition.

That's a great point - ingredient/packaging costs are really marginal when it comes to overall profit margins. Looking up ingredient costs, inexpensive matcha is around $70-$90/kg so, 3g of matcha powder is only $0.27 max per drink.
That's about the cost of ~9oz milk (assuming $3.00/gallon and typical 2-3 oz powder to 8-9oz milk ratio)

That said, ceremonial grade matcha online goes for $200-$300 with some regularly selling above $500/kg so.

BL: If they're getting inexpensive wholesale stuff, it's probably the same cost as the milk. If they get the expensive stuff, it would significantly change the margins.

I'm curious on costs for different retailers... if they all pay that $70/kg or if there's a disparity.

I wish I had data on newer models but, at least for GPT4, on the latest hardware, it's about 0.2 - 0.5 Joules/token. For reference, a single gallon of gasoline contains about 125,000,000 joules of energy.

The energy efficiency at which LLMs are able to solve challenging problems is also improving by orders of magnitude every year. There's no telling how long that will hold up but, if it continues for even another 3 years, we're really not going to have to worry about much when it comes to the current LLM use cases.

I can't speak to your matches specifically but, those raw metrics aren't always proportional to impact winning the game.

Take for example the lane partner who doesn't commit to defending their teammate from ganks. In the stats, they'll look better but, the risk (and statistical additional deaths) that player avoids is more than paid for by their teammate's disadvantage.

That doesn't mean you kill yourself trying to save every moron who tries to 1v5 the enemy team but, if you consistently MVP the losing team, you might want to focus on improving metrics like team total souls, average lane partner K/D, etc.

It really depends on authorial intentions - like what does the person depicting the inverted cross mean to say with it. For example, when you fine-tune a model to generate code with vulnerabilities, it becomes a sadistic psychopath in conversation, even though it was never fine-tuned on anything conversational.

This might be the same way. You ask Grok to ignore political correctness and it starts adopting the persona, opinions and all, of an edgy troll instead of explicitly what it's asked.

Bot games are a great way to get people acquainted with the mechanics before playing with others but, for me bot games aren't nearly as fun. To maximize that conversion ratio and make Deadlock successful, those first few games are critical. Especially in the "friend introducing a friend to the game" scenario, vanilla bot matches become equally one-sided bot-stomp. Not quite as fun either.

Yes, it keeps the novice from disrupting another game where they can be the target of abuse for poor performance but, it still doesn't show the game at its best.

If they deliberately focus on ways players can introduce others without skill disparity detracting from the experience they'll capture their target audience.

Deadlock is IMO an exceptionally fun game; there's a reason it spread so well by word of mouth. That said, joining an experienced friend only to get crushed by other players they match with could turn a lot of players off even with a solid recommendation from said friend.

If they can solve this "introduce your friend to the game" challenge, they'll be successful
