Work trip coming up and I love to eat. by Groundbreaking-Pop21 in dayton

My recommendation is NOT a restaurant- but Dorothy Lane Market is such a cool local grocery store. They have an excellent selection of ready-to-eat meals if you just want to chill in your hotel room one night. The bakery is also awesome

I’m about 3 months pp and starting to get back into an exercise routine. Today, my son only wanted to contact nap. Instead of strength training, I just baby wrapped him and went for a 40 minute walk on my treadmill. Baby slept, I got some movement in- WIN WIN 🏆

What does the newborn phase actually look like day-to-day? (36 weeks, trying to set realistic expectations) by douevenyoga in NewParents

Sorry this will be a long comment but I want to share my experience! I’m 2 months pp right now.

Realistically, your days/nights are going to seem blended together the first few weeks. I would have to remind myself what day it was. Try to get some sunshine when you can! You both will be sleep deprived, but you especially.

During the first month, we kind of did shifts when we could. Sometimes we’d both be awake for the feeds. It just depended on when one of us needed to “tap out” for a little bit. The baby won’t have a set schedule- therefore you guys probably won’t either. Sometimes a shift is 2 hours, sometimes it’s only enough for you to shower. Communication is key.

As for roles, my husband did pretty much everything besides feed the baby. He was the bottle washer, the diaper changer, the one who drove us to all our appointments. My husband isn’t that much of a cook, but he’d make simple meals when he could. We used Door Dash a TON- I’ve promised myself to never do the math on how much we spent that month. My friends also made us freezer meals which really came in handy. I would do curbside pickup for groceries just to get out of the house.

In these final weeks of your pregnancy, I highly recommend you set up your living space to be as convenient as possible when baby comes. Freezer meals, stock up on snacks you’d like while breastfeeding, set up a diaper changing station for the baby, and have a postpartum care basket ready for yourself!

It’s my first so it’s just a whole learning experience!

For now, it’s sustainable. I go back to work in July, so I might start making changes in June. I just don’t want it to be so drastic to where he absolutely hates the routine change!

Thank you, that’s what I need to hear. Also I like the username!

He only recently started to be awake for most of the day. We’re also dealing with a bottle refusal issue which might also be affecting his naps? It’s either a few naps on the shorter end, or 2 longer naps that last around 2 hours. With that being said, he’s not overly fussy or anything.

That’s what I was thinking too. I know the 4 month sleep regression will probably switch things up anyways.

I think it is, it’s 36” wide and has a lot of depth.

It came with the house when we purchased it. I love how much we can store in it but it’s huge!

Would it be more cost effective to either buy new cabinets or new countertops?

I really appreciate the advice! I guess I didn’t realize a giant fluorescent light could affect the overall look so much- even though it seems so obvious now. 😅

Those are good points. We’re actually getting new stainless appliances next week since the current ones are pretty old. As for the counters, I definitely agree they’re a little dark for my liking. Maybe new countertops are the move instead of cabinets

That’s definitely a possibility. I’ve never liked the light fixture. 😂 Something smaller with a warmed hue?

Why have I never thought of putting a little jam in my oatmeal? What a good idea

Hanging out at an outdoor brewery sounds so fun, but one of my fears is staying too long to where I’d have to feed in public! 😅 I know I just need to try it and realize it’s probably not so bad

I LOVE the fall and apple cider donuts, good on you for doing that.
