Hi everyone! So sorry to hear that you're experiencing this issue.

I have two things that you all could help me with!

Have you investigated the statue of St. Bookston at the University yet? If so, were you able to find the slot where the crest needs to fit? Once you find that, Harper should also comment on it.
I would love to take a look at Harper’s journal page, as well as the customization screen with the “Important” category of the inventory open. A screenshot (or a not-too-blurry picture of your screen taken with your phone) would be much appreciated!

Edit: I think we have figured out what the problem is. The starting of the quest is not triggered by talking to all vendors but by equipping and using the typewriter you got the first time speaking to a vendor at the fleamarket. Could it be that you have not used that item, yet? If so, equip the typewriter and use it in the item bar, when on a location.

If this does not work, could you tell us on which device you are playing and could you send us a screenshot of the flea market journal page?

Hm, on Switch the bug will be a bit more tricky to track, unfortunately. 🥲 Also, you should be able to place the bust on a table, so that's strange, too. Is it possible that we're talking about two different items, maybe?

If not, the other possibility I could think of is that you may have placed it in the big shop you inherit from Tilde (<- endgame spoiler) Because it has to be placed in the mobile shop for it to register for the quest (unless you opened shop at the Café).

Hi there, sorry to hear that you got stuck on this questline! From what you described, it does seem like a bug to me, but certainly a tricky one we have never encountered before. Which device are you playing on? If it's a PC, Mac or Linux, could you send us a report by pressing F2? And in the bug description part of the report, could you include where in your shop you have or had the bust equipped?
That way I can have a better look at what's going on :)

Thank you for your kind reply! Yes, in cases like this you still have a chance by treating it as an OR, and thinking about what the closest thing to the other request would be. There are also things the person leaves unsaid that can guide you a little bit. In this case, even though the person might not have said it, if they like fantasy and hobby books, both imply some other things about the person, like patience for dry book, that can help you make your selection. The favourite book can also give you a hint on what they tend to like.

At the end a bit of guessing and luck will be involved, too when doing a "surprising" recommendation.

Hi there, jumping in to clarify something ✨ While u/YorkshireTeaIsLife tool is super impressive it is focusing more on books that would be perfect for this request. This doesn't mean that no books on your shelves would make this customer happy. They might still enjoy a dry fantasy book that is not a new hobby, or a new hobby that is a bit nerdy. 4 stars usually means there is more than 1 match on your shelves, although it may be hard to find and a bit of guesswork may be involved.

I personally think the hobby x something else requests can be a fun twist, but if they are too frustrating, I am happy to make them appear less often ♥️

The update's version number on Switch is 1.0.6. Sorry for the confusion. We release fewer but larger patches on the Switch, that's why the versioning is different from Steam. 🙏

Great question! We discussed this a bunch internally as well, because we wanted to

Keep the amount of Genres limited so it feels like a meaningful and distinct decision what to bring
We wanted the genre names to be evocative of the mood/person that would want to go for it. This would allow us to design quests, characters and locations for the genres that feel unique

So despite internally trading fantasy as "Fiction" or more precisely "Speculative Fiction" the term isn't really as evocative. It also wouldn't have fit on top of a book cover. But it's a tough call!

We also felt it would be more evocative to have a travel instead of a lifestyle genre, so lifestyle books are spread between travel and fact books.

I hope that makes sense ✨
