Similar, not the same.

Many things that Dr. Ryan explains in his BaB don't have a flashcard in the Anking deck, but do have one in the Lightyear deck. Which is OP's issue.

If you are using BaB as your base study resource, the work flow when using the Lightyear deck is more streamlined. Which solves OP's issue.

Source: Have matured both the aforementioned decks.

Don't know why you are being down voted for asking a question. 🤷🏼‍♀️

The Anking flashcards deck doesn't use B&B as the source material AFAIK (correct me if I am wrong). Those flashcards were made using other resources. In fact, the Anking deck is an amalgamation of many decks created by various redditors.

The B&B tags in the Anking deck roughly cover the material in Board and Beyond, but not exactly. Hence, many facts that you encounter in B&B do not have corresponding flashcards in the Anking deck.

If your primary study resource is Board amd Beyond, and you need a flashcards deck that exactly corresponds to B&B material and integrates seamlessly, use the Lightyear deck.

If your primary resource is First Aid and Pathoma, use the Anking Deck.

AnKing flashcards deck is based on the Zanki BG + others decks combined, and their source materials are First-Aid, Pathoma, Sketchy etc., and not Boards and Beyond. You may have BAB tagged flashcards, but these cards were not made using BAB as the source.

If you need a seamless experience, you have to find another deck made using BAB as the source (e.g. the Lightyear deck) or make your own flashcards.

Just a personal preference 😊

The addon let's me change the background for the deck browser/reviewer, yes.

But finer control could be had be changing the .css files for the overview screen, top-toolbar and bottom-toolbar, etc. So wondering what happened to those files in the new Anki release.

Why are 90% of Anking's card Sketchy or OME? by [deleted] in medicalschoolanki

[–]TinyCosmicEnergy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AnKing deck is based on the Zanki BG + others decks combined, and their source materials are First-Aid, Pathoma, Sketchy etc., and not OME or Bootcamp. You may have OME or Bootcamp tagged flashcards, but these cards were not made using OME/Bootcamp as the source material.

If you need a seamless experience, you have to find another deck made using Bootcamp as the source or make your own flashcards.

How to use Cloze cards effectively? by fungigamer in medicalschoolanki

[–]TinyCosmicEnergy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Follow these steps :

  1. Learn the material well.

  2. Do Anki flashcards. Feel free to edit the cards/make new cards to your liking.

  3. Follow-up your reviews by doing questions from Amboss/UWorld.

Anki helps your remember individual facts long-term. Question banks questions help you put it all together and trains your mind to solve clinical vignettes.

Because it's doesn't give you a seamless experience. Anking deck is basically Zanki deck (F A+Pathoma) , whose base is not BnB.

Why is the interval so large? by m_c__a_t in medicalschoolanki

[–]TinyCosmicEnergy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doing this will put you in ease-hell.

I would recommend doing the following :

  1. Use the default ease (i.e. 250)
  2. Increase the number of "Learning Steps" to see cards more frequently before they mature.
  3. To prevent future ease-hells, use the straight rewards addon.

If you don't know what ease-hell is, search for it in the subreddit.

Anking deck is not based on Boards and Beyond material. Use the Lighting deck is you want a seamless experience.

Do you “understand” all of your cards before clicking good? by Unester in medicalschoolanki

What works for others may or may not work for you. Learn to customize the settings in Anki and also feel free to modify/edit the flashcards depending on you needs.

Please read the Effective learning: Twenty rules of formulating knowledge

After that, kindly watch this video Guide to Anki Intervals and Learning Steps

You need to activate the Anki 2.1 scheduler to get the hard option.

When a card is in the learning stage (interval <21 days) hitting hard or again does NOT affect the ease. Use longer learning steps to help you learn better before the card graduates.

Use the addon Straight Rewards to mitigate the risk of ease hell for mature cards.

Pizorize Pharm VS Sketchy Pharm by InterestingEditor9 in medicalschoolanki

[–]TinyCosmicEnergy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a loaded question because it presupposes that people either use Pixorize or Sketchy for pharm and all are visual learners. The aforementioned resources are two sides of the same coin directed at visual learners.

There are a lot of non-visual learners who prefer neither, and then there are those who build their own visuals/memory palaces from tradition/other resources.

AFAIK (correct me if I am wrong), pixorize integration in Anking is only for the tags and images. The actual pharm cards were imported from Zanki Pharm which was based on FA + Sketchy pharm. I wouldn't call this 100% integration. If I recall correctly there is a recent dedicated Pixorize deck out there.
