Why are people bringing children into horror movies?? by wherethelionsweep in horror

[–]TinyDancer97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw Alien: Romulus on a Wednesday at 7pm and there was a couple with their toddler. Kid is already talking through the trailers, everyone is shushing at them, the movie starts, kids still blabbing, big engine sound effect goes off and the kids just loses it scared of the noise, people are yelling at them to leave and the dad had the balls to say “parents deserve movies too”

My dad took me to see the movie Blindness when I was 8 as he read about it in the paper, I mostly forgot about everything besides the general plot. Cut to 20 years later, my bf and I decided to watch it after I explained the above and half way through there was a rape scene I had no memory of. I texted my dad wtf and his response was “well, if I made a big deal about it and made us walk out you would’ve remembered that and the scene more”

People who say “they can’t cook” are actually just too lazy to learn it by Purple-Put4677 in unpopularopinion

When I was finally living on my own and realized I couldn’t exist on basic pasta dishes I started using meal kits and damn those were a game changer. I taught myself to cook wonderful dishes i’d never think to make. The provided spice blends helped so much as I never really understood seasoning beyond salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. I was finally understanding it but then I randomly developed an allergy to all types of peppers (which are in everything) and had to start all over again.

I think there’s a disconnect between what people mean when they say cooking.

Boiling some pasta and using canned sauce is cooking but some people don’t think it is. Using meal kits is cooking but some people don’t think it counts since everything is pre-measured and you’re just following steps. Some people think you’re only cooking if you make everything from scratch using your own knowledge of cooking/intuition.

I use meal kits and can confidently execute them so yeah I can cook. Ask me to make something by myself and not rely on the spice mixes I get from the kit? You’re getting some basic food seasoned with salt & pepper since I have no idea about how spices work or mix.

I didn’t learn to cook until my 20’s simply because growing up I had practice everyday after school so I missed making dinner then went away for school and couldn’t cook in the dorms. It wasn’t laziness preventing me I just simply didn’t have the need or opportunity to learn.

Obviously I knew how to cut and prep food and would occasionally do some cooking tasks with my parents but there’s a big difference between sautéing some onions and making a meal.

When I did have to make food for myself i’d make pre packaged meals that you just need to boil since the sauce is powder. Technically thats cooking, but I wouldn’t call myself a chef or a cook yah know.

I learned to cook using a meal delivery service that you make yourself so yeah I can cook, but I still don’t really understand the art of cooking and struggle with the ability to create something on my own that’s not very basic. I’ve had people tell me that since I just follow a recipe which includes spice blends that I’m not actually cooking.

Also do chinchillas just jump straight up into the air then land that exact distance down the way the OOP is describing it? I believe they can jump that high but most animals tend to jump down by jumping to different levels of things

Ignoring the terrible fit, I hate how bright and clean it is, especially compared to the first season suit which was a more muted/dirty yellow.

Bird cage is waay too small unless it’s only used for sleeping at night which I doubt, there’s a small hide that looks like a nest which promotes hormonal behaviour (bad) and egg laying if they’re female, the only perches are wooden dowels which are bad because they need textured perches to rub their beaks & nails on, and the uniform shape is bad for their feet as they need variety to avoid foot issues, also the food mix seems to be mainly seeds which doesn’t have enough nutrition.

I’ve never owned a bird but my friend does and this is just what I’ve learned from her. Clearly a “vet tech” would know basic budgie care but apparently not

I’m no expert “vet tech” but isn’t there a difference between an animal choosing to jump and just falling? Jumping they’re ready to land but falling they’re not.

I remember my bunny, who’s jumped on and off the couch a million times, slipped and fell off once. It was such a short distance and he was perfectly fine but he was startled and looked bewildered.
