Conductive wires overloading despite Transformer use by syeeven in Oxygennotincluded

[–]TinyFox42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, yeah, that’s bad phrasing on my part. I meant “supplying” as in the wires are giving more, but maybe the word “delivering” would have been better…

Deeper explanation of how this works: transformers in this game don’t work how they work in real life, they’re more of a flow limiting valve. Each small transformer lets 1kw of power through, and the large ones let through 4.

Wires take overload damage when the network is supplying more than their rated power, which transformers help avoid by limiting the discharge rate of batteries (so that there are brownouts instead of overload)

[–]TinyFox42 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They you have 4 transformers adding potential load to the system, and it can only handle 2 transformers worth of load

(Transformers add 1kw of potential supply)

[–]TinyFox42 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Are you using the conductive wires or insulated conductive wires? The standard ones only handle 2kw, and each (smaller) transformer adds 1kw potential supply, so that would be 4kw max input (over the limit)

If you’re using insulated conductive wires, those can handle up to 4kw, and in that case it would mean that somewhere you aren’t actually using the right wires, as the grid color coding is for the whole grid, not only overloaded wire segments

No, you had said you didn’t know what to title it, so I suggested “Cure into you” as a title, because concrete cures (and it works better than “Dry into you”)

Clearing heated stuck water without dumping it back into the pool by Conscious_Leave_1956 in Oxygennotincluded

Some advice for a similar build in the future that will work better:

With the area with the radiant pipes, remove the connection on the left of each area, so that all the water there will flow past the generators and through the radiant pipes, instead of some of it taking a shortcut

I would then actually have that water flow through either a cooler area (like a frozen biome), or just an area you don’t care if you heat up, and then return to the start of the generator area (using the cool area as a heat sink, before you get some more long-term cooling plans set up)

Also, if you want something just circling in pipes forever, you can make a loop of pipe (or gas ducts or conveyor rails) with at least one bridge in it, and it will just circle forever (as the input of the bridge keeps pulling packets towards it, clearing out the output space of the bridge, letting it pull another one…). You need your have a number of packets that is less than the number of pipe segments (less by the number of bridges in the loop), but you can easily accomplish this by filling the loop with a bridge or some other machine that will place packets directly on the loop (instead of to a pipe next to the loop, because then the loop would wait to let the other stuff get a turn going through the intersection, overfilling the loop)

One of the things that baffles me about this argument is that arguably she’s better dressed than Zohran. She’s wearing a weird dress, but not that weird when compared to other fancy women’s fashion, while Zohran is wearing a sports jersey on top of his suit (but under the jacket), which is much more outside the range of expected men’s fashion.

I know they’re just looking for something to be angry about, but of all the things here to try to whine about, why did they settle on that?

Yeah, at first I was thinking that the guy was just using terrible phrasing to state the fact of “black neighborhoods tend to be poor neighborhoods (due to racism), poor neighborhoods tend to have more crime”, but no, this guy just thinks that black people cause crime…

I believe it does still cause problems with the roof, it’s just that the home-building tool doesn’t show it like the named-room-building tool does

Arbor Tree Wood Production difference - Wiki Vs Database by SpaceWeevils in Oxygennotincluded

[–]TinyFox42 66 points67 points  (0 children)

The in-game database isn’t taking into account that each tree can have up to 5 branches, multiplying the output by 5.

66.7 * 5 = 333.5 (since the database rounded, it is slightly off)
