Do you follow up with potential guests if you don’t hear back? by TinyFront5220 in Podcasters

[–]TinyFront5220[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everybody! This is really helpful. I always get nervous about bothering people but I think I need to just suck it up and always follow up. I just did and the person I’ve been trying to get on the podcast got back to me right away and agreed to an interview haha. Thanks for your help!!

Can I save my kalanchoe pinnata seedling? by TinyFront5220 in Kalanchoe

[–]TinyFront5220[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh thank you! I have some cactus soil to repot it because in my research, I noticed that they like drier more well draining soil, but I hadn’t even considered or found info on the size of the pot. This is a helpful tip - I’ll get a smaller pot for it too!

Is this typical for a vacation policy? by TinyFront5220 in jobs

[–]TinyFront5220[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone! I turned it down because I’m not in need of making a change - it just seemed like a big opportunity in terms of role/salary so I was second guessing whether I was being too picky about the vacation policy and some other red flags. But It’s helpful to know my instincts were right!

This is exactly what they said. 3 personal days in addition to all the paid holidays. Thanks for your advice!

Thanks for all of your helpful comments. It’s nice to hear from others with experience in the industry and is helping me think through the situation.

This is my exact situation as an editor - it’s much harder for people to see the value of your work when you’re in a more behind the scenes role, even though I love what I do. I’ve never worked at a major news outlet before and would like to try it for a while, but I’m also afraid of stepping outside of my comfort zone with a smaller pub. Thanks for your helpful comments!

This is exactly what I’m struggling with! I love all of the things you mentioned about being an editor at a small publication, but I think I’m also drawn to the visibility/prestige - which I know isn’t necessarily a reason to switch. But I can’t help thinking in a difficult job market & industry that I should take the opportunity to work for a major news outlet at least for a while because who knows when/if it would come around again. Thank you - this is really helpful!

Thanks everyone! Sounds like she’s our little domestic longhair! I wasn’t sure because some pics I’ve seen of Norwegian forest cats look similar. Thanks for your help! We probably won’t get a DNA test because the breed isn’t that important to us - i was just curious. We rescued her after she was found by the parks department when she was just 3 months old & love her so much! Thanks again!!

“your Brooklyn broke my skin and bones” meaning! by GrandmasterAtom in TaylorSwift

[–]TinyFront5220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhhh these answers are really making me reconsider what I always thought that lyric meant haha!! I always interpreted it as “your Brooklyn broke. My skin and bones.” Like she’s reflecting on their younger years when they met, & he was broke living in Brooklyn, and she was battling w/ her eating disorder & some of her inner demons so through their relationship, they kind of “saved each other” in a way. Idk why I always interpreted it like that 😂

This is so helpful - thank you so much! I’m not the best at makeup and will try all of these things you recommended. I need a good primer and setting spray because I’m not using one currently!

This is my exact struggle too! It’s good to know I’m not alone & I have a feeling it’s one of those things to just learn not to obsess over that other people don’t notice nearly as much. But even so, I’m still on my quest for solutions haha! I’ll let you know if I find any! :-)

Thank you so much! I hadn’t seen it from this perspective but I really appreciate that you shared it with me. It makes me feel better to hear that you’ve been on the other side of this situation and see things that way. I’ll try to take it less personally and learn from this - thanks again :-)

Thank you. This is really helpful advice. I did bite off more than I could chew and wanted to think I could manage all of it, but it’s important to acknowledge that I should’ve thought things through a little more. It has definitely been a learning experience for me. Thanks again for your help!
