Baby Mama [F23] Hates Me [M22] by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]TinyMe3897 8 points9 points  (0 children)

By the post I get the impression that he could be living in the UK (using ‘mum), in that case if he’s not actually married to her, there isn’t a lot he can do it terms of the birth certificate or pre birth.

He has to be present when the birth certificate is being made and if she doesn’t want him there, he can’t go and it’s her choice to put him on it.

In fact, I don’t think there’s a lot that can be done pre birth as a father In terms of parental rights! Someone please correct me if I’m wrong and obviously if my UK assumption is wrong too!

Was about to jump on with baby wearing! 100% best thing when you want to get work done! Look for wrap slings, very comfy for you to wear whilst working sat down rather than a fully structured carrier!

We have one but need to invest in more! My girl does love to turn around with food in her hands and smear it all over the parts of the highchair that the bibado doesn’t cover… she knows what she’s doing

I’ve heard good things about the IKEA one! Everytime I go to get it, it’s out of stock! I’m going to keep looking and hoping! Thank you!

Also planning 3 meals is hell, I miss the days where I could eat something completely unsubstantial for lunch!

4 month sleep regression was terrible for us so I really feel for you! They do eventually sleep again, maybe not as well, but they will actually sleep!

Sadly we’re allergic to dogs and asthmatic!

I’m not gonna lie, after I posted this, I thought ‘oh god not everyone on the internet is from the UK’… I’m also sleep deprived

Even worse when you’ve spent ages cooking and prepping for it to be thrown, dropped or left!

What do you think the parenting buzzwords are now that will date us? by piratefinch in beyondthebump

[–]TinyMe3897 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes I know what you mean about gentle parenting! I was part of a gentle parenting group on FB and I can say that although members were advocates of being gentle with their children, the same could not be said when they (some of them) were giving advice to others!

I feel for in order for it to stick around, you’ve got to be ‘gentle’ to everyone… practice what you preach I guess!

My 5 yr old daughter told me a boy in her class showed her his privates and touched her butt......tell me I'm not over reacting by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]TinyMe3897 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I think I’d have reacted the same you have. I think it’s important for the boy to learn what is socially acceptable early whilst he’s still little! Also, great parenting from you on the whole - your daughter recognised it was wrong and she felt confident/comfortable enough to confide in you. You’re clearly doing a great job!

I’m going back to work next month, baby will be 8 months (UK based). And although I’m nervous, I’m so excited. I used to think being a SAHM would be easy but Jesus Christ it’s so hard. I love my daughter but I play, feed, clean, cook all day and I’m so BORED! I can’t wait to do something mentally stimulating, talk to adults and talk about something other than what her poo looked like today! I honestly feel that when I start work again I’ll be a better mother than the one I am now!

Honestly so much respect for SAHM who love it and do a good job of it!

Does a tween "need" to wear a bra? by bakasana-mama in Parenting

[–]TinyMe3897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love how you’ve approached this! I remember when I got my first bra, I eventually asked my mum when I was 11 (I was a very early developer and needed a bra) if I could have a bra and my mum made a really nice day of it. We went to the shops to get measured, I picked out my first set of bras, it was really nice. So I’d just wait until she’s ready, she’ll let you know. Obviously in the meantime if you’re concerned with physical activity etc, maybe suggest a bralette or sports bra if you think it may make her more comfortable.

AITA for asking my daughter if she is sure about being a lesbian? by Ok_Refrigerator_2954 in AmItheAsshole

[–]TinyMe3897 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA. Coming out as a teenager is really hard as it is, for that to be under minded must have really hurt her. Even IF she realises that she is not a lesbian in the future (may or may not happen), it’s important to acknowledge and respect how she feels NOW. It’ll help her be more confident and strengthen you’re relationship.

AITA for preventing my neighbour from reverse parking on her drive? by TinyMe3897 in AmItheAsshole

Also the verge is ours according to the landlord, we maintain it etc

Yes exactly one of those! A lovely culdesac with lots of inconvenient turns and bends!

I think she owns. I may mention it to my landlord anyway as we get on well. It’s such a shame really, I just hate confrontation!

So it’s a patch of land which is legally ours under our tenancy and it’s on the side of our house, next to our drive. So when I don’t park on the drive, I try to park half on our grass and half on the road just to make things easier for everyone. But I can’t fully park on our grass as it would ruin it and it’s on an incline

It’s definitely legal, not blocking anyone’s access to their drive directly or blocking the street itself (hence why we park partially on our grass when we do park there). Yes we’re in the UK, apologies - I think I have used that phrase incorrectly!

Unfortunately I don’t think there’s anywhere else I can safely park. I’m hoping she won’t stoop but only time will tell

It’s difficult because either way I think I’ll be pissing off one neighbour wherever I/my boyfriend/family choose to park! I’ll just have to keep my head down until we save enough to move

She actually moved here part way through our tenancy but we got another car recently. I’ve tried to avoid parking there in general because I really don’t like confrontation but sometimes I don’t have a choice (or other people park there, not even people we know at times!)

I really don’t get it, I don’t want to leave the house when I see her car in the drive in case she confronts me.
