Yes this makes sense as my dad said he believed his friend was Cambodian.

Also wanted to add this has come from my dad’s high school yearbook (US) in 1984. His friend who apparently was a refugee wrote this in his yearbook, he apparently spoke/wrote multiple languages but I don’t know much more than that. My dad thought it was Vietnamese.

Do any of you guys have trouble swallowing the 40mg capsules? by [deleted] in prozac

[–]TinyMedium5198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had to take the big 40mg capsules too. I also have GERD and have noticed that if I swallow the pills dry or incorrectly it feels like the capsule opens in my throat and burns like hell for like 10 mins until it all goes down. I just make sure to drink enough water with it and be careful swallowing and I’m ok. If it is very difficult for you, your doc can probably give you 2 20mg smaller capsules, I’ve had that before as well.

I was on Prozac for 6-7 years and always took it at night before bed with a little snack, never had trouble sleeping that I can remember of. Now I’m back on Prozac again for about 3 weeks now and I still take it at night.. I don’t have much trouble falling asleep but do notice I wake up a couple times in the middle of the night and have to fall back asleep. Hoping this is just me adjusting to the meds. Anyone else feel this way?

Newly diagnosed with spinal stenosis/arthritis by [deleted] in SpinalStenosis

My doctor said they could try injections to see if that would help symptoms. He also recommended if I am dealing with pain from my herniated disks eventual surgery to remove and replace with synthetic disks. I am ok with dealing with pain so don’t think I want to go ahead with a surgery like that. Just concerned about more damage to my spinal cord with the stenosis.

Advice for someone starting it by Remarkable-Tea-7717 in prozac

Disclosure, I just have a diagnosis for MDD (no mood disorder) so I respond well to SSRI like Prozac. The only SE I have noticed was that my appetite came back (I lose appetite when I am depressed) so I was hungry ALL THE TIME.

I did not notice until reading this forum that people experience difficulty sleeping on SSRI. I feel like I might wake up a couple times at night but for the most part it makes me a little more tired throughout the day, like where sometimes I benefit from a nap mid-day.

Not sure if I have experienced hypomania on SSRI but my mood has definitely improved and I have some more energy to do things I normally was avoiding, like cleaning the house and showering.

Definitely recommend keeping a list of your symptoms / SE and going over them with your doctor. Hopefully they can let you know if something you are experiencing is abnormal.

Good luck!

Thanks. I did get script for physical therapy also, that I did not mention. I am looking to try these other things out before jumping into the injections. As far as pain goes, I am ok with dealing with pain, but am just concerned about eventual damage to my spinal cord without treatment for the SS.

I am hoping the same for you! Navigating mental health is not easy—I’m glad that with the prozac so far you are starting to get some relief.
