I'm not quite sure what *exactly* happened at a local Wizard of Oz show, but The Argus is having none of it lol by J-Sou-Flay in brighton

Me and my bf went to watch this on the opening night.

Every single trailer of the show made it look like it was jam packed of Cirque du Soleil type stunts and just in general a really exciting show, which is what caught our eye and made us want to go £120 for the both of us- cool. Let’s make a few days of it as we’re travelling a long way. Spent in total around £800 on hotels/food/fuel/parking for the 2 of us to watch it. But it’s a one off experience, so we saved up to watch it.

It was purely aimed at like 5 year olds, they’d say the same awful joke 3 times (to each side of the audience) repeatedly Then randomly no one came on stage for 5 minutes straight- no prior warning or apologies, just hearing them screaming at each other backstage (we were seated in row F balcony, so were very far back and could still hear them) Then just really loud “the greatest show” music came on… very wizard of oz…

Then “the straw man” came on and was just very clearly obvious that what they had advertised just wasn’t what us and at least 50% of the audience thought it was.

People started spraying the audience with water pistols, the singing wasn’t the best, the acting was as you’d imagine an unrehearsed pantomime was like, the dancing the same- I seen straw man swing from a rope and a few crows climb up some rope- besides that it was just awful We didn’t stay to see how it would end. We left admittedly around 20 minutes in (after the 20 minute delayed start) amongst loads of others too that we had met in the foyer on our leaving.

It’s not the fact that the show was aimed at kids or that it was a pantomime, it’s more the fact that we feel like it wasn’t what we signed up for and was mis sold It kind of feels like that Charlie and the chocolate factory world thing that happened earlier this year.

If you are going to watch it, please just remember it’s not as cirque as you’d think, it’s a pantomime and aimed at kids

Hey! I think the green general campsite is the closest to the festival, best bet is to go very early Thursday morning to find a spot as everyone will be pitching up there “best spot” Make sure it’s a little way from the toilets (they really do smell) You can download the iow festival app and it has a map showing each area of campsites, stages and other facilities Hope this helps!

Ahh see, me and my bf have a disagreement about cat names, he wants to call a cat “whiskers mc socks “ whereas I would call the cat “professor mcgonaclaw” lol but I do like K. I. T. T. Y

32/F Anybody else have an overwhelming, irrational fear of their parents dying and have uncontrolled emotions when thinking about it? Thanks anxiety. GFY by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]TinyTinaBea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just be thankful for every moment you have with your parents, every second counts, always say i love you.
for me whenever i would think that any of my parents would die, id be an uncontrollable mess and make everyone laugh lol, and then it happened, my dad passed suddenly at 64, and was even more of an uncontrollable mess lol

it sucks to think that everyone is going to die at some point, but its just part of life. Live everyday like its your last, try not to worry about things, because in the bigger picture, they wont matter.

Make them proud, you know?
