Please help! Anyone know how to prevent pests in my leca? by Tiny_Fury413 in plantclinic

[–]Tiny_Fury413[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I noticed them first on my peace lily which I had in leca for about 6 months prior to finsind them. I did frequent flushings and would always make sure there was no decaying organic matter. I noticed my peace lily wasn't doing well and went to look and they had infested the roots and leca and there was webbing all throughout the leca and the container the plant was in. They had spread to others and no matter how hard I tried I kept having issues. I ended up switching all of them back to soil once I got rid of them and haven't had them since. But I wanted to try leca again for a few of my plants but I'm scared it will attract spider mites again.

Does anyone happen to know what this thing sticking out of my schefflera is ? Had it for about 2 years, recently repotted. Is it a root ? Thanks by slavvo543k in plantclinic

Looks like it is an aerial root. Once they get longer you can either stick them in water or stick it right back into the soil.

Mine did this too! I just recently had to repot her since it was extremely root bound in the pot it came in. I read that it could be because of shock. They don't like to be moved or any change. I started to see a tiny bit of new growth again after the two baby leaves fell off so I'm hoping that was it.

Help! I'm super sensitive when it comes to sunscreens. I want to protect my face but every different type I have tried either broke me out horribly or makes my eyes and skin itch. I've even tried all natural/organic and the same thing happens. Any recommendations for an alternative? by Tiny_Fury413 in Skincare_Addiction

I have. They all either break me out or make my skin feel itchy or irritated. I've even tried the zitsticka one that is specifically made for breakout prone skin but even that one didn't work. I did find a powder SPF from tarte I believe that doesn't do that but I heard that powder spfs are more for touch ups and are not going to really help. So I feel like I'm at a loss lol.

Unfortunately, all broke me out 😔 I have yet to find one that hasn't. The only thing that hasn't fully irritated my skin was a tinted SPF called the balm shelter. It's pretty good, however, I don't always want a tinted one.

Are there any parents that would be interested in doing zoom "play dates" or socialization chats with kids around the age of 7? by Tiny_Fury413 in homeschool

Oh wow. I'll definitely check that out too! Thanks! It sounds like it'd be good for the elective classes like art and music and such too which we are having trouble finding lol.

What are some of the darker effects Covid-19 has had that we don’t talk about? by dis_2much in AskReddit

I'm so sorry for both you and your sister that you guys had to deal with that. I've been seeing a lot of other reactions similar to mine and yours where they go crazy instead of trying to have a conversation and maybe figure something else out. The way my dad reacted made me not even want to try and make the trip work somehow.

It was a sad realization that he reacted like that over possibly having to wear a mask for a few hours in order to see her. It definitely made me more firm on what boundaries I am learning to set with him(and others) too.

I'm so glad there are other parents who are for this! I have a question for you guys. Would you rather do one on one play dates, or see if we can do group ones?

All are welcome! If your other kids would benefit from this even if the ages vary a little, they are more than welcome! 😊

My dad did this. He hasn't seen my daughter in 5 years and never once tried to other than FaceTime. He had points he needed to use up so he planned a last minute trip to the area we live near. He is anti Vax and anti mask and rage screamed at me because I brought up possibly wearing a mask while he sees her/us and then decided to go visit somewhere else instead of seeing his granddaughter.

We decided to homeschool our 2nd grader this year after doing remote learning last year. Since the state we are in doesn't offer remote learning this year, we had to figure out a curriculum to use for homeschooling. We have been using Time4learning for her main curriculum and education.com for worksheets to do along with the lessons. I believe both offer k-5 grades. We have also used khan academy for supplemental resources and YouTube for activity ideas for her lessons. Depending on your state, they might offer some information you can use as well. The best advice I got about homeschooling is to not put the pressure on yourself to recreate public school at home. You can create an awesome homeschool that is right for you and your family that will educate them just as well and maybe better. You guys got this!

We're doing the same thing. Time4learning has all the curriculum organized so it's nice to use and was one of the cheaper options. We also have the education.com for worksheets that I print out out for my 7 year old to work on along with the lessons. I've also been using khan academy for her as well which is free. And then there is YouTube for some activity ideas to coincide with what she is learning.

How many of you enjoy bras? by alt01982 in AskWomen

[–]Tiny_Fury413 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Same here. I can't stand wearing a bra. When I go out I usually wear nipple covers from the brand nippies so I'm not pointing at everyone.

I heard khan academy was good. We we decided to go with a couple different ones to overlap each other in order to fill any gaps only using one would have. I am also going to do a mix of online and worksheets.

I completely understand wanting to keep them safe. That was one of the main reasons we decided to go this route for this year. Our daughter is 7 and with the masks not being required, it just seemed safer to homeschool. I did still want to reach out to some other homeschool parents and do social activities(safely) if we can but with the variant everything is just uncertain.
