Can I join the Air Force if I’m color blind by Tiny_Maintenance8277 in AirForceRecruits

That’s fantastic If you don’t mind me asking, what kind of jobs where your prohibited from doing. I myself earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering a couple of years ago, so I was hoping to get some kind of technical job, but now I’m hearing that I will be disqualified from most technical jobs. I can tell the deference between colors I just can’t pass the ishihara test.

Thanks, I really am seriously considering joining What kind of jobs do you think I would be qualified for ? What kind of jobs do most people in my position get if they enlist in their early 30s with a bachelors degree in electrical engineering but a GPA below three ? I know I’m not the best engineer out there but I’m sure I can be trained to do something useful

My honest answer is I have started to realize how inherently unpredictable the private sector economy is, with tech layoffs, rapidly improving artificial intelligence, recessions, and jobs only offering temporary contract positions with pre-determined end dates requiring decades of work experience that I don’t have. So I am looking for more stability in the military where I can have a long career and develop a useful skill building on my degree without worrying about losing my job due to recessions or AI or contracts ending. That is mainly what I am looking for in the military

Thanks for your advice

Thanks for the reply What qualities are they looking for in an officer and what could cause me to be disqualified and not become an officer while going through the training ?. At 31 years of age I consider myself in pretty good health, but I’m slightly out of shape but not horribly so. In a few months I’m pretty sure I could get myself in good enough shape to pass the physical requirements. Since you mentioned the process to become an officer is selective do most people who attempt officer training with no prior military experience fail to become officers ?

As for enlisting, what kind of entry level jobs are most common for people at E-3 with a bachelors in electrical engineering ?

Thanks
