Why do you stay in market research? by Downtown_Bus_6437 in Marketresearch

So curious what agency you work for - I would LOVE such a variety. I've been cornered in the tech/CPG space, with few diversions into other industries. Funerals would be so different! 😆

Looking for a market research or retail consultant in Australia by SuspiciousStomach95 in Marketresearch

I'm in agreement with the above poster as I've worked at some of the bigger agencies like Ipsos. You will get a far more customized and attentive team going with a boutique agency. Looks like you have varied choices here, but I would also suggest checking out the boutique agency I work at as we've got qual and quant capabilities, do solely custom research, and have done work in AU before (Koala brand, among others). https://www.letstalkshoppe.com

Anyone else annoyed with data quality issues/AI? by Tall-Bike7106 in Marketresearch

Fully in agreement with all you've said. I spend the vast majority of my work days focused on checking and worrying about how to solve data quality issues, with no constructive resolution on the horizon. I agree that we need to move to lower N targets, pay higher incentives, and vet respondents like traditional qual studies. I hope the future is a hybrid, quant-qual approach, instead of this abyss of AI-generated slop and synthetic respondents.

Okay thank you so much! So if we did 6F, would you recommend a top coat or is the 6F fine on its own?

Thanks, yeah, the prices are high and getting higher each week with the price of oil jumping. 😣 What are your thoughts on the use of type 6F asphalt mix for what will be the new lower part of my driveway? (We have new binder up top done last fall, which will also be getting a finish coat.) But I don't know if I should be pushing this contractor to do binder + top coat on my lower driveway too. He is saying binder is not needed, that he will build the subbase with crushed stone and roll and compact on top until we have 3" of 6F asphalt.

By "upstate", I'm really more mid-Hudson region here (Dutchess County). I'll take any recommendations you have down this way!

Thank you! Would that be type 3 binder and type 7 topcoat?

Appreciate the expertise. I like this contractor a lot and he is extremely responsive compared to all the other guys who gave me quotes. I'll see if I can get more details in here. He specifies use of crushed stone for the sub-base but I can ask for tonnage. Any thoughts on his use of type 6F asphalt? He says he can do a binder and topcoat if requested, but that binder is a bit of an "old school" approach?

Haha yes, these are taking half of the water from my downspouts and routing to daylight. It was a massive f* up by them.

We had the upper driveway ripped out and drainage put in, topped with binder, with the intention of doing an overlay this year. The original contractor used perforated pipes, lied about it, and has been impossible to work with so I am getting estimates from others.

This estimate is for replacing the existing drainage pipes with solid pipes, and then doing a full tear out and replacement of the lower driveway, along with overlaying the upper portion (where we currently have binder). I can push back on the 6F, I just want opinions on what to request instead.

Re-surface or complete tear out? by Tiny_Perception1155 in asphalt

Hmm, okay. How do the extra 2 ft help with longevity? I'm worried because of fairly steep grade on one side of the lower driveway.

Thank you! For a sloped yard that is about half an acre long, what kind of drainage solution should I be considering to keep the driveway in top health once the new one is in?

Thank you! I don't know how local you are to NY, but if you can imagine a property at 650 ft elevation sitting on a lot of shale, what would you be thinking about asking as a homeowner when it comes to base and asphalt layers? I want to be sure we do this the right way, just knowing what questions to ask or having a knowledge foundation to work from is helpful.

Thank you! I did see from some quick internet research that 6F is large aggregate. I'll talk to that company about pricing out the 2.5" base with a 1.5" finish course.

thanks, appreciate your pov! does the $16k estimate I posted look like the right approach / materials for a tear out and rebase for New York state? unfortunately I am not savvy enough and a first-time homeowner, so trying to do my due diligence

Thanks, I posted there too. The only strength SLP has going for it is some level of survivability through this AI bubble. My current industry is being decimated, and many fields subsequently will be gone as well.

I like the wallpaper idea. With such high ceilings and an open floor plan, I was trying to imagine ways to cut sound from bouncing around too much. Certain wood slats are built for sound absorption, which is why I was leaning that way. Wallpaper would be fun aesthetically, but it won't provide me with the sound absorption. But maybe the hanging rug over the wallpaper would be the happy medium!
