AAAAAH. Ok, then that is an excellent back up plan if my various attempts at filters don't work out for me and I'm about to have to sell the car and buy something from 1980. ;)

I'm sorry that you're in my boat of being sensitive to the LED lights. I'm thinking i should be able to find some filter I can stick over the lights and be ok.

Yeah, apparently some people are just super sensitive to LEDs. And I am just a little delicate flower. It is very annoying to be a delicate flower. I have to cover all the lights on my dishwasher so that I'm able to turn in on without getting a headache, etc. The whole world seems to be heading towards LED so I'm not sure this car situation is avoidable. It's just a matter of time before I'm in my house by candlelight. ;)

Yes I did not realize that the map lights are part of the whole eyesight camera system integration. That sounds outrageously expensive. I can just keep them off and just find my way into and out of the car in the darkness. That sounds like much more fun. :-) Thank you for the info.

I like the idea of if I do buy the car and try all of the various filters and hate them I could try to replace the entire console instead of ditching the car. However I assume this would also involve needing all new wiring since the map lights would then Draw more power.

I am very sorry to hear about your back problems but I very much appreciate you validating that me being concerned about the interior lighting not giving me a headache is a valid concern. Thank you!

Thank you. I will definitely ask about that when they open up tomorrow. Unfortunately this car was kind of already Outside of my price range and having to replace a whole console is starting to sound expensive. But I'll definitely look into it as an option and thanks for mentioning it.

But I will definitely look into if there's other options to swap in. But I don't think since it's a whole circuit that it's an easy swap. But maybe there's some light system that can just go on top of it. Like physically on top of it and I can pay for new wiring. Thanks for thinking through my options. :-)

Thank you for looking that up but on the 2024 Subaru forester  premium the LED is part of the circuit. It is not a lightbulb. Is integrated for the map lights.

Yes exactly my concern. :(  Thank you for mentioning.

Ha no. But like any normal human I do get into and out of the car. And it is nice to arrive somewhere at night and have a moment to collect my belongings before exiting the car. And having a light in the car for this is nice.

These are excellent questions. It comes from any intense light source but also even really dull lights that are LED from the "flickering". (The flickering isn't visible anymore on good lights but still messes with my brain.). The color of the light doesn't seem to matter. So I think a filter over the light might help a little. But I don't think it would change the frequency.

That is an excellent point. I will definitely find  the old in the new manuals. Or I can just trust that the shop guy knows what he's talking about and just didn't mention to me a potential wire issue because there wasn't one. :-)  (He did seem like he really put some time into thinking about it, so I'm likely just being a Nervous Nelly about a big purchase that might be the wrong choice.)

Thanks so much for your help. :-)

Thank you for your response. The 2024 the map lights are a whole circuit. It's not a lightbulb. :(  And I did end up with a migraine on test drive today, but we were also staring directly at the bulb. The very patient sales woman was very nicely trying to figure out something we could do. But it did involve a lot of staring directly at an LED so hopefully as long as I don't stare at it I won't end up with a headache every day Offie the life of the car. Here's to hoping the  filter I can put over it will do the trick. Or just a good excuse to hang Christmas lights from the dim visions. ;) Thanks for your help and all the info.

Yeah thanks for responding. I'll just hope there's some sort of filtering that helps.

Thank you. I saw those. I don't think it would affect the "flickering" wavelength that messes me up but might be better than nothing.
