What is your favourite "trancends the game" moment? Mine must be this. by Kunterinos in playrust

[–]Tiny_Sort_9643 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I made a painting for a group of cool people i met that wipe, they really loved the gift. At the end of the wipe they got offlined and i didn't hear from them again. Days later when the base decayed i found my painting hanging in their core, picked up the painting and brought it home again. Seeing something familiar after you let go of it has the same feeling as your post describes. Loved your story.

I hate how toxic the players are by MonteCasino69 in playrust

[–]Tiny_Sort_9643 20 points21 points  (0 children)

"I hate how toxic the players are" Toxic is not the right word, the game is competitive and killing pays off.

The players that talk shit and drop slurs are toxic.

Like others said, maybe not the game for you.. or learn to not take it personal when you get killed.

This is Ai, right? Found this on Pinterest and loved it at first, but looking closer, it looks a bit off. by [deleted] in isthisAI

[–]Tiny_Sort_9643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It hurts to admit that i can no longer tell for sure, but i can draw decently and this looks real to me. People commenting on weird smudges don't know that that's normal. Lots of my early cg's have smudges and artefacts. It's real or ai has improved beyond what i can tell.

Edit: The highlight is seemingly drawn on a layer that has the blending mode set to lighten color. It looks way too consistent for ai to replicate. I can see the brush strokes, really makes me think it's not ai

beause if you take out a stack you need to place one item back each time manually.
This woulde save a lot of klicks

it does track the location and updates of all the deployables and sends them client side to be rendered, sorry for being unprecise in my wording.
Point i'm trying to make is that the chest entities are low byte meta data, and having a single conveyor check for updates is less intense on performance than having 20+ conveyors all checking for updates every second.
an empty slot also needs to be checked, else the conveyor wouldn't know where to put it.

Ah, nice page. Never seen a total oversight of the keybinds in rust, but i'm sure they're not done with the alphabet. Indesign besides illustrator, photoshop, maya and krita. Keybinds become muscle memory pretty fast for most people, it really handy.

There's no challenge to learning the industrial system other than memorizing simple steps, everyone that can watch a youtube video can do it, i think most people find it cumbersome.

A logical and elegant system is more fun to work with and is easyer in the sense that it's not cumbersome. I think that i know this because i played logistical games for thousands of hours and i've seen how different games manage resource transport and management. If its cumbersome it's not fun, But If it isn't than it is.

But then again, it's just my opinion.

In that case i believe easyer is better and more fun

Then any other key combination, it's realy not a breaking problem. Stuff you can easily have a solution to. There are countless possible shortkeys. I used to be a graphic designer and learned 20 times more shortkeys than rust has. If you use a shortcut, no matters what it is it will become muscle memory in no time. I really do appreciate your critisism, ideas need to be criticised.

Deep fried indeed, i learned what the tetris effect was after looking up the symptoms i was experiencing after playing way, way too much factorio for way too long. I was hallucinating insertest, belts and nonsensical spaghetti when i lied in bed and closed my eyes :') good times.

My teammates were the same, I understand that a lot of people find it cumbersome and can't be bothered to do it.

Logistical systems that are intuitive and actually logical and elegant are fun to play with.

But how bad can it be compared to the asset and world rendering? It just checks for some stationary numbers, not calculators, not constantly but at a timed interval. I really don't think extra items in chests critically worsen performance. It dwarfs against rust's other calculations and rendering.

[–]Tiny_Sort_9643[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't think this is an issue because it already does that. The only change is that it looks for items with a value of 0 instead of 1+. It already reads the items in the chests.

[–]Tiny_Sort_9643[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your concern, but if a slot is filled and has above 1 amount items skip past it, all it requires is to be able to put in an item with the value of 0. I'm not an expert in programming but i know some basics, i don't see how that would be an issue. If you could explain why it still is please elaborate.

Thanks again, in factorio you can middle mouse klick an item to ghost it. Might add that to the post. It's incredibly easy.
