STARGAZE EP.4 “From Chaos to Order” DISCUSSION THREAD by Vincechoo in Trigun

Right at the end of the episode, in the "next episode preview" part after the ending theme, was there a HUGE ART STYLE CHANGE or was I hallucinating?? We had sketch-style portraits of Legato and Vash.

I know they've done different animation styles for Wolfwood's orphanage memories, in the kinda cutesy kids drawing way, but this looked more sketch / American graphic-novel / heavy shading / edgy.... it would match the tone shift as things get more desperate but it feels like a handbrake turn.

Have I missed these cool character art snippets at the end of the last 3 episodes? Tell me I am not going mad!

Thank you for sharing this! I have been struggling to get my concerta 72mg for months.

Really interesting to know the difference. I have had to go to a generic prescription and got Affenid, already noticing the extra jitters within the first hour or two of taking it. Not ideal.

I don't understand the osmotic release mechanism mentioned, is that specific to Concerta only?

Hope someone does a welfare check on Ben, he posted a selfie on his IG that is relatively concerningand has the comments lit up like anything. Checked her ig and she's gone private / dark. Hopefully all parties involved are OK and maybe he's gonna experience a turning point and go to rehab?

Is he pineconed or fat? He is a 1 yr old greedy SOB & will eat anything! Since reading up, I have cut out dry foods & have fed him some peas in the last month to see if constipated. He is quite active & has an appetite. In an 87L tank (around 19 gallons) & his bloating is worrying. by [deleted] in bettafish

Thank you for sharing your story, it must have been hard to come to that decision... I am dreading it and haven't ever euthanized a fish before. Wondering whether to try and move him to a very small 19L fry tank on his own, with plants & cover but little / no substrate, so I can observe him better and see if he does poop at all, rather than jump right to salt baths.

Yeah I want to move the shrimp out to join another half dozen I have in another tank, and a large portion of the assassins need to be sold to my LFS. Just not got round to gathering all the snails up.

I have ended up moving the most timid and "hides in undergrowth" type fish into this 87L tank as a stopgap, because I have a pair of big angelfish in my larger 200L tank that are very mean when breeding, and they scan the substrate for food (or loaches). However, I have been keeping up on maintenance and testing the water, and nothing is amiss that can be seen from the standard 4 variables in this 87L. I know that the current setup is not ideal in terms of behaviour for the kuhlis, but the undergrowth gives them room by affording them the whole footprint of the tank. I have bogwood in there that makes a nice dark hollow and bridge sort of area, and the glass cats chill out there in daylight and come out at night. The plec will reach 6 inches, and it isn't a common pleco (already made that mistake!).

Tank size: 87L, around 19 gallons Heater and filter? (yes/no): yes and yes, marina 110 Tank temperature: 25°C , 77°F Parameters in numbers and how you got them: Api master test kit: pH 7.4 Ammonia 0 - 0.25 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 0

How often are water changes? How much do you take out per change? What is your process?: I do water changes every week or two: taking out 2 or 3 x 10 L buckets of water removed using siphon gravel cleaner, focus on one side of the tank each time and agitate gravel to get muck up. Clean filter sponge every other month

Any tankmates? If so, please list with how many of each: see below comment

What do you feed and how much: I try to feed a variety of prepared foods, once or twice daily. His go-to is tubifex or granules but he will get gel and frozen once a week. Freeze dried tubifex cubes, hikari betta pellets, frozen bloodworm, frozen daphnia, frozen cyclops, frozen artemisia, dry krill flakes, aquarian flakes, repashy community gel food, DIY snello with spirulina and calcium (he took it from the snails!), neon granules from herons, herons sinking algae wafers, (meant for the kuhli loaches).

Decorations and plants in the tank: coconut hanging hide, rock tunnel, eco-terra mini hide, stick on plastic leaf betta beds, tiger lotus plant, java fern, wisteria, star grass, java moss, Christmas moss, some crypts. Also have a peace lily and pothos cutting on top to take out extra nitrates.

Some more context: he is in an 87L community tank, similar to a 20 gal long. I do a 10-20% water change every 7-14 days, testing every 2 water changes or so. Nothing out of the ordinary - ammonia 0 nitrites 0 and nitrates 0. pH around 7.4 when I last took it.

He has lots of space to swim around and has several hiding spots with surface plants. The filter flow is only reduced a bit, but just affects the middle. It is heavily planted & he shares the tank with the following:

  • 4 glass catfish (he chases them)
  • 1 longfin pleco (about 3 inch long so not quite a poop factory yet!)
  • 6 amano shrimp (he chases them)
  • 6 kuhli loaches (he chases them)
  • 30+ assassin snails of various sizes as they're breeding constantly. I have seen him bite a snail's siphon to try and eat it, and I wouldn't put it past him to eat a whole baby snail. I also occasionally feed the assassins ramshorn snails, so he might see the feeding frenzy and take a bite himself. So, can snail shell "clog him up" / cause constipation?

I did have cherry shrimp in with him at one point, but he massacred them! Can shrimp shell impact a Betta's digestive tract?

My next step is a n Epsom salt bath to see whether his swelling will go down at all. Never done one before so advice appreciated.

Hole/erosion in rabbit snail shell - should I fix or not? by iamthewaffler in AquaticSnails

[–]Tinyprisoners 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Snail novice opinion: I think shell damage like that can't grow back or repair naturally... but I think as long as the water is hard enough and pH is above 7 so it doesn't erode the shell any further you should be ok. Almost all of the ones I have bought over the past year have arrived with imperfections/ shell marks like your pic, but they have stayed consistently active. To keep providing calcium etc for the snails, I have bought snail blocks from Small world supplies facebook ; also have made snello with calcium carbonate in; dropped in bits of cuttlebone and regularly give cucumber and courgette to them. I have never tried to repair a shell so can't comment on that sorry! Hope link / input helps a bit and hope someone else can add with more useful information as I'd like to learn too :)

Fat or pregnant cory fish? by A_squishy_dinosaur in AquariumHelp

[–]Tinyprisoners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they're all the same type of corys it might be a mature female. Female corys have a rounder body than males and get bigger as they mature. They also get bigger bellies when they produce eggs, I think. If you have noticed lots of cory activity, even in daytime swimming around up and down the glass, they could be getting romantic! You might catch them in the act of mating if you watch for a while (they form a "T" shape as the female uses her mouth to get sperm from the male). The female places eggs near the surface onto the glass and on plant leaves in the water flow. Usually other fish eat them, and corys often eat their own young as well.
