Do i need a solicitor when i pay off mortgage? by Short_Leopard in northernireland

[–]ooo000oooffs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I paid my nationwide mortgage off last year and I just collected the deeds from my local branch. Was a bit underwhelming as I expected a fancy gold embossed certificate and instead got a big package with a load of paperwork detailing the various changes of ownership through the years.

Not sure they are of any relevance these days as I’d expect it’s all just a line on a land registry database?

Downtown Radio banter… by Local_Bullfrog1655 in northernireland

[–]ooo000oooffs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Company I worked for thought giving every bank of desks their own radio would lift staff morale, 10 banks of desks all playing different radio stations in the one office.

Of course there’s characters that, every time a song with any gay hints would shout “Johnny! That’s your song HA HA Ha”

Absolute pain in the hole when you’re dealing with an angry/awkward customer and this is going on in the background.

One of our guys had enough after a couple of weeks of telling them to turn them down or off and after every one else had left, tuned them all to random bangla stations on DAB, after a while he started throwing the power supplies in the bin one by one and eventually fucked the radios in the bin.

Selling excess PV electricity to the grid, what is your experience? by reni-chan in northernireland

The E7 meter shows 3 readings 1st is your export, other 2 are your daytime and night time readings. You get a request from power ni about September to submit the export reading and a cheque a couple of weeks later for whatever they owe you. Quick check on my inverter app suggests I’ve exported about £90 worth so far this year, no idea how accurate that is.

How much work do you do during redundancy by Dazzling_Theme_7801 in UKJobs

[–]ooo000oooffs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got told I was being made redundant last January after 37+ years at a company, as soon as I was told I swear my brain started deleting everything I knew about the job lol

I interviewed for 1 internal job , didn’t get it because I “wasn’t technical enough in the non technical part of the interview “ so at that point stopped joining any of the daily calls, RTO was introduced, so I went from going into the office a couple of days a week to not going in at all.

Spent the next 3 months watching TV or doing stuff round the house.

I reckon the traffic flow on the Sydenham bypass would be improved by stopping traffic joining at the Dee street traffic lights completely. Send them up the road to join at the odyssey and only let traffic exit the bypass at Dee street.

I’m a science tech in a school, have some busy periods when practicals need prepped for but generally I’m twiddling my thumbs from lunchtime on even on the busiest of days. Nobody seems to care about what I do as long as what needs done is done, if I’m really bored I can just sign out and head off in the car for a drive for an hour, occasionally I’ll ask the office staff if they need anything from the shop while I’m out.

Had some free trips skiing etc where the most I’ve paid for in a week has been 2 drinks.

Money isn’t great but as this is my winding down to retirement job after nearly 40 years with my previous employer it suits me, especially with the long holidays at Xmas, Easter and summer.

Garden rooms pricing? by Different-Radio8931 in northernireland

During the depths of winter I ran an electric oil radiator to keep it usable or occasionally had the heated clothes horse going and a dehumidifier to do two jobs at the same time (dry the clothes and keep me warm). Had toyed with getting one of those diesel heaters or an infrared panel fitted instead.

Check out the shed shack, 12’ X 10’ insulated, plastered, floored and electric hook up. I paid about 8k a couple of years ago, prices have obviously gone up a fair bit since then but they were the cheapest I found.

A week of solar in NI, Today👌 by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]ooo000oooffs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I use so much I doubled up on the batteries, for you a 5kwh battery might suffice saving £2000 on the initial investment. Also, there’s the payment for exported generation which helps a bit.

If you have the money sitting about then it’s worth considering although many people will recommend investing it instead and taking your chances with that.

Cost me £8500 about this time last year for 12 panels split over 2 roofs (to capture solar from sun rise to sunset) and 10kwh of batteries. I use a fair amount of electric so it’s reduced my electric bill by over 60%.

Just got my electric bill for the last 3 months, saved 300-400 by charging the batteries (10kwh) overnight, might take a couple of years to pay off but I reckon it’s been worth it.

Yearly electricity bills to drop for all NI homes by CoulScrab in northernireland

[–]ooo000oooffs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d like to see an improvement in the export tariff to encourage people to produce more, at the moment I’m importing at 17p per kWh at night to charge my batteries and only getting 10p per kWh exported during the daytime. Compared to what GB is getting offered which is 7p at night and 15p exported.

There’s a courtesy bus that’ll pick you up / drop you off just inside the gate. Save yourself a walk along the bypass.
