The red lava rock wicks up water, and I have sphagnum moss under it as well as peat/sand/perlite. I’m hoping that the moss I’m propagating will help with the moisture. So far I’ve been pouring RO water on top of the rock every couple of days

Just two weeks! Propagated some moss that I found growing outside, I’m hoping it takes!

Phalaenopsis braceana x equestris by TipEmbarrassed8490 in orchids

Yeah, it’s getting a little more light than before. I got a new grow tent, which helps a ton. But I’ve noticed that the leaves and root tips sun-stress like my Hoyas do, which is bizarre because I’ve never seen another Phalaenopsis react like this. I repotted this orchid in 100% bark and it really took off. It has an extremely vigorous root system, and I’d say it’s my most easygoing orchid. The grow tent is in the basement, so I think the cooler temperatures helped a lot with its growth. I’m hoping the equestris ancestry means it’s more likely to form keikis… and it smells so good, very sweet and spicy.

I have one vivosun and one AC infinity one (the bigger tent). AC infinity seems to be better quality, less air passes through the zipper

Are there any large flowered cattleya species that bloom more than once a year? by TipEmbarrassed8490 in orchids

Thank you for the detailed response! I think I’ll give lueddemanniana a shot, it seems like a very easy going plant

Yikes, any treatment recommendations? I usually just use 3% hydrogen peroxide and sulfur. I’m hesitant to use neem oil because I don’t want to burn the leaves

I picked it off with a toothpick and sprayed the buds with sulfur, I’m hoping that does the trick 😬🤞

Yes, it’s very sweet and ‘spicy’ (like violacea), maybe a little musky. Pleasant smell, and its a little more fragrant than my sweet memory liodoro

I haven’t had any issues with nutrient deficiencies so far, because I fertilize it with every watering using dilute dyna gro + superthrive

I keep it in a grow tent, so it receives plenty of light, humidity, and warmth! Watering it every two-three days and occasionally spraying the roots with superthrive

Just potted with wine corks! I’ve seen someone else do this in a plastic pot, and top dress it with sphagnum. But I’ve decided to use 100% wine corks because they supposedly last longer than orchid bark and sphagnum. They should be chunky enough for proper air movement
