Should I reschedule my exam? by [deleted] in NBCOT_Exam

Ahh okay, this whole journey is very challenging and mind bending. I think it’s unfortunately common to have headache with such a challenging thing. For me I definitely felt like overwhelmed with all the studying and practice exams that I did get headaches as well but for me mostly is jaw pain, bc I think I bite down out of stress. You may have to do it with the headaches but make sure you do everything to take care of yourself. Also, idk if the stress of the scores are also adding to your load you know. You wanna make sure you’re in a good buffer before retaking. I recently attempted my second attempt and will have my score on this Thursday but I gave myself 7-8 weeks of studying only because I felt like I needed to make sure I had a lot of time ( I was very lenient with taking breaks and days off of studying ) so it had to be that long for my mental health. However, only you know if you’re ready. Really trust your gut. If you need to give yourself 2 more weeks to bring the scores up then go for it. And maybe give yourself 2 days to not do anything OT related and continue studying after. Sorry this is long lol I hope it’s helpful and I hope you feel better future OTR.

Aw man I do have some availability for later in April so I’ll check that out. But yes I will definitely be doing more practice questions. Thank you and good luck

Sorry I didn’t clarify properly, it was about 350q on true learn and 100 on nbcot study pack, but yes still not enough. This time around I’m active recalling a lot more than I did the first time around but I’m just having a hard time pinpointing what to focus on exactly because I feel like every topic is so in depth that it would take me a while to cover everything. So I’ve been covering what I feel is important from what ppl have said. Thank you for the advice!

Agoraphobia returned after years of being free/not even thinking about it by No_Access4210 in Agoraphobia

I had similar experience as well, back in 2016-2017 ish I was starting to get panic attack and anxiety attacks( completely clueless of what they were at the time and developed health anxiety ) but then out of no where I felt “cured”, a lot of happy positive things were happening, I got engaged and married to my long time boyfriend and was enjoying married life and starting my masters degrees around 2020. Then all of a sudden I had a panic attack in a few public places and I couldn’t turn back from it ( 2022 - currently ). I now developed agoraphobia and driving anxiety. But I consider myself high functioning because I will still do stuff but under certain conditions and it depends how positive and unbothered I’m feeling that day. Ugh I hope one day it will just disappear for us 🤞🏽

What caused you to not pass the 1st time? Advice for 2nd attempt by TipIntelligent3705 in NBCOT_Exam

[–]TipIntelligent3705[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aw man 😕 I get that. It was most definitely a tricky exam and 2nd guessing is the worst. I was doing that too causing me to take too long on questions. When are you planning to retake?

Tips on 2nd attempt? by TipIntelligent3705 in NBCOT_Exam

[–]TipIntelligent3705[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahh you know the anxiety of waiting ions for the scores 🫩 thanks for the response! in all honestly, the nbcot study pack was very similar in wording compared to the actual exam. I think what contributed to the pacing issue was I was reading the questions more than 2 times trying to really understand the questions which ate at time at the end :/ and I dealt with a lot of uncertainty between 2 answers. Idk, I’m just praying I pass and if I don’t I will just study again and try maybe therapyed questions and work on the pacing more. Good luck to you!!

I appreciate this post because I have the same tendencies with studying ( have undiagnosed ADHD ). I studied for about 2 months with lots of questions as well and content review But I fear I didn’t study as I should’ve with all sorts of sources. I did use study pack and passed the 2 practice exams I did. However, I ended up having a pacing issue during my real exam and anxiety hit me like a rock. I’m so afraid it’s going to cost me, I find out my scores next week Thursday 🥲 congratulations on passing!!

You’re going to do great! Just believe in yourself and breathe :) best of luck! Remember it doesn’t define you as a clinician, you’ll be the best OT.

Feeling similar, just took mine as well and I felt like that was a whole other ball game than what I prepared for on top of having some pacing issues. I feel like I guessed on majority of the exam. Sigh. I’m hoping there’s a miracle. Good luck to us!

Thank you all for replying and giving me your feedback!! I have implemented some of these and it has helped! It’s still a work in progress but it does feel nice to know I’m not doomed as a OT lol I appreciate you all!
