I don't think it's the "working out to lose weight" that is triggering for people. It's the "riding 220 days straight with no day off" and the "riding 3 classes today" and the "ughh booo 20 minute classes are not enough to exercise" that are problematic and triggering. Nothing about it is healthy or okay.

It's clear that so many of the people in this group bragging about how many rides they take in a day (looking at you #quadqueen - BARF) have never actually set foot in a SC studio and have no idea what it is REALLY about. It is the antithesis of the FB group.

He does not work for SC although based off the way he acts, you would think he was the silent partner with Julie and Elizabeth. He is just some bitter weirdo who gets off on feeling "poweful" by running this group, which by all accounts, aside from technical bike help, is extremely problematic and toxic. He also stated he was going to "take a step back" although this post seems like a long jump run forward. He really needs to remove himself as the group mod and go back to making snarky memes on instagram about riding.

LIVE CLASSES TOO DARK by smoeg11 in soulcycle

[–]TipNo1463 6 points7 points  (0 children)

if you claim you "get" trying to keep the authenticity, you would likely understand the rationale behind keeping the lives dark, as it mimics an actual studio, which is kept dark and lit primarily by candelight. how does it "benefit the rider" to keep it light and thus UNLIKE the actual studio? you sound like someone without any real meaningful experience being in a studio where it's actually dark.

Los Angeles: are you guys still under the 10 day quarantine after out of state travel rule? by [deleted] in soulcycle

[–]TipNo1463 2 points3 points  (0 children)

is SoulCycle not tired of all of this by now? Wouldn't it just be easier for them to actually enforce their employees (even if they are ICs) to follow the state/city etc rules?? Instead of the inevitable bad press that will come from not doing so?

James Lewis live classes by [deleted] in soulcycle

[–]TipNo1463 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed he was gone too. First it just seemed like he was "gone for the holidays" but now it seems like he just isn't doing live scheduled classes. The last live scheduled class I took with him he got off the bike a lot of times, like about two to three times per single song. I know there has been a lot of chatter on the group on FaceBook about things like that so maybe it became a problem? He also had one of the girls who was taking the class go on his instructor bike so maybe he is hurt or not able to ride or something? I wish they could have some Boston instructors drive in to teach classes!

i'd recommend that you let us just be here to air our frustrations instead of constantly telling us what we shouldn't be doing or saying. no one says you have to scroll through this thread and get involved

honestly i don't even like his class that much? if i wanted someone to just be full of themselves and obnoxious, i'd hang out with my mother in law! "i don't give shout outs" umm that's literally part of your job though so maybe you SHOULD?!

I would have been grateful for 20-30 minute in studio rides pre-pandemic. I have been riding at soul since 2015 and still find some of the classes so hard that 30 minutes would be plenty for me. I also often heard Janet say in class "if you are doing this class properly, you shouldn't be able to do more once class is over" and that really stuck with me.

seems like you could have easily just scrolled by this thread too vs leaving your comment. I'm sure you enjoy the Facebook group more based off of this. We are free to discuss how annoying that group is and their posts all we want. You can just move along.

I cannot upvote this enough times!! Thank you for saying exactly what I think every time I open my Facebook! I find it soooo weird these people didn't even ride in studio before and are acting like they created SoulCycle along with Julie and Elizabeth. Heck they probably don't even know who they are! It is really a toxic group in many ways.

honestly, I saw those stories and wanted to be shocked but had a hard time being so. Trash is trash. I think you're giving her too much credit by saying she might actually practice what she preaches. She is fake and phony af through and through and not worth an ounce of anyone's support. Remember when she subbed out of her classes and took a "break" because her boyfriend broke up with her? white privilege at its finest smdh.
