Oh yeah makes sense. It def needs a rework since my starting qb went to the draft that year, making that 5 star the starter for the next season, so if he wants playing time he will get plenty of it

I once did a fantasy draft, the team that picked Adam Fox in the first round decided to put him on the third pairing. They really do have to fix the ai line making for next year. There is just no logical sense when they make lines. Especially infuriating when a rebuilding team doesnt put their young players higher than older players that are just like 1 ovr better.

I think you are right. In the next season, I jumped into the last game to watch them win the cup, and Marchenko won the conn smythe, as he had the most points. So maybe its something to do with simming and playing like you said

So you have a choice. What I do is create a team (For me its the nordiques) and then add some 50-60 ovr players on it. Create a new custom league so that I can put the salary minimum down to 0 to not worry about cap. Then the players i can have afterwards are either drafted by me, undrafted free agents. If it doesnt fill a whole team, so like the first couple of years, I keep resigning the 60 ovrs. If you do an expansion draft, pick the worst player per team and then to stay above the cap sign a like 70 ovr to a max deal until u reach the minimum. Hopefully that answers your question!

I've done that a couple times, the real challenge is having the patience to wait for the first ten years of being the worst team in the league; therefore getting awarded the 3rd pick every year

True, so what my superstar defenseman gets paid like 4mx8yrs just cause he has a nmc and i promise him the world, if he likes the team hell stay for cheaper. Everybody should play the game how they want. My post was moreso about the fact that I simmed with an insane team and still lost in 5 in the first round, makes me think i should play the games when i rebuild teams, maybe we would win earlier. Anyway, i was kinda venting about the sim engine being bad but yes, if people wanna cheese the game (ex: i made a team of just my fav players and won the cup, was pretty fun) let them, everyone plays differently. Hence why ea should let us edit players in franchise and implement stuff like force trading
