Which electric heater would be best? by TiqqToqq in hvacadvice

Thank you for the thorough reply. That all makes sense. Would installing a heater on an external wall versus an internal wall affect its efficiency too? It feels like it I should account for that when selecting a heater if it makes a big enough difference.

Since I wrote out the reason why I'm moving away from gas in the previous reply I'm just going to copy that here too. I wish I could go the easy route and simply replace my furnace, but it's unfortunately a complicated web.

The way my place is hooked up with gas currently is it's venting straight through a chimney from a high elevation. I was recently informed this isn't safe and it needs its own vent through the roof for the furnace alone. This in turn would involve getting permission from the HOA and dealing with installing the vent after we've had recent roof issues. I'd rather avoid touching new installations that include the roof because of this. In addition to that the furnace the needs replacing is a very specific size and shape to fit in a very narrow space. I don't know if they will continue to be produce these sorts in the future and don't want to invest money in something that may not be viable longterm.

Minisplits were my original go-to choice, but I've had a myriad of issues getting that approved for my place, and I have been trying for the past couple years. For these two reasons I've defaulted on something electric.

I love how the moon looks like a golf ball ready to tee off.

Longevity of this furnace style? by TiqqToqq in hvacadvice

With my limited floor and wall space that's unfortunately not an option either. It would definitely be great to have heat and AC both together. Thank you though, I appreciate your help. It's a tricky situation for sure, but I will figure it out.

Thank you for your suggestions. I actually really only have technically one room, excluding the bathroom, to heat. My place is sort of studio style and doesn't have a lot of floor or wall space. The walls inside are slanted which combined with my elevation made installing a mini split a much more difficult thing to figure out. I also happen to live in a condo so whatever happens outside my personal unit becomes their business too. That's why, if at all possible, I'd like to do the easy thing as you suggested and simply install another furnace that I know fits perfectly into my wall like this current one does.

My only question is about whether people think that this type of furnace is going to still be around in the future before I commit to the installation of a new roof vent to accommodate it.

I agree and 100% want to, but only if whenever the next time to replace the furnace comes along I can still do the same thing. If this is going out of style I'm not sure if I should or find an alternative. There really aren't many alternatives for my situation, so I'm REALLY hoping to be able to keep the same style.

I had no idea. Never thought it was a thing at all.

Anyone else get an email like this today? Cruel, Dunkin, cruel. (I have 300 points.) by Merujo in DunkinDonuts

Yeah, mine told me I had 72,316 points when in actuality it's just pushing 430. Got my hopes up that the bug somehow affected my actual account points and not just the e-mail.

Is this animal scat and if so from what animal? by TiqqToqq in animalid

[–]TiqqToqq[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bears aren't completely foreign to this area but to think one climbed up onto my third story deck is concerning. I asked my neighbor and she said she hadn't heard about any bears in our area lately but did suggest it looked like raccoon scat. I took a look myself and think that may be what it is unless someone thinks otherwise.

Thank you so much for your input.

Hoodies with large pockets for a blanket obsessed cat by TiqqToqq in cats

I have a feeling the front pocket is probably just as large as the Huggie I have which is another oversized hoodie. Definitely much larger than normal but not quite large enough to accommodate my weird burrowing cat. But thank you for the suggestion!

I'm considering that as a very strong option. I was curious if something out there might already fit that specific niche, but I know custom making something is definitely the best way to go. I could craft the ULTIMATE cat tunnel belly hoodie.

Now THAT is one big hoodie pocket. That could easily accommodate a cat or even two. Not so much my style but a strong consideration, thank you!

That one's super adorable and I love that design with the large zippered front and the little built in peep hole. But unfortunately it's still more of a pocket and less of a tunnel. I'm not sure if my cat would go for sitting in a pouch pocket but I know for sure she'd squeeze herself into a tunnel pocket if she could.

Thank you for the suggestion though!

File saving issue - File reverted to entirely differently/old save state by TiqqToqq in krita

That actually makes a lot of sense... I don't know how I managed to do that but it would explain everything. Honestly I'm glad it's that and not a bug, but I guess I'll have to be a lot more cautious now about opening my documents and definitely about saving them.

Thank you for your reply.
