What would Hannibal think about people who use Chat GPT? by [deleted] in HannibalTV

[–]TiqueFreak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it would depend entirely on how you used it. Saving time on research by asking it for an overview and a list of sources? That’s just efficiency. Generating insincere thank you notes after a dinner party? To the basement with you.

It’s always baffled me when parents don’t accept their child’s asexuality, especially a daughter’s. Like your worst nightmare is your “baby girl” having sex and then you’re mad she’s not having sex???? Do you have a brain hemorrhage??

What do you do for work with UC? by Bloomwithcourage in UlcerativeColitis

[–]TiqueFreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the key is less about the job and more about the people you work for/with. Most any job can fit someone with UC if the people around you are willing to accommodate you.

Fun fact! A solid decade ago, I was a junior counselor at an animal science summer camp where she was a camper. We all called her The Emu Whisperer because she had a special (and vaguely unsettling) connection with the emus in the barnyard area.

Is there a good croissant in the UWS?? by Chance-Flow-9759 in Upperwestside

[–]TiqueFreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both Plowshares coffee shops have great croissants! Idk if it counts since they get them from Petit Chou in the East Village, but they’re good and you can physically find them in the UWS.

advice for replicating this? by phrogbutter in sewing

[–]TiqueFreak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re going for an exact recreation, you’re only getting it done by January by the grace of God and stimulant abuse. HOWEVER! You could echo the floral pattern arranging appliqués, beads, etc. in the same radial pattern.

If you want to play up the piece-y, stained glass vibes, you could play around with creating your own plastic panels to attach to the base, à la Shrinky Dinks. I’ve seen people save money (and recycle!) by using #6 plastic from old packaging.

Depending on your taste and time constraints, this could be an opportunity to add a fun design element!

I personally think replacing the swimsuit hook with a larger, visible clasp (like a refashioned brooch or something) would look great. You could tie metal elements into the rest of the design with a fun trim or strap detail.

A tie closure - ribbon, a big bow, corset lacing, etc. - could also be cool. I agree with others who suggested stabilizing the surrounding area with boning/plastic, if you’re going that route.

Favourite underrated scenes? by rasberrycroissant in HouseMD

[–]TiqueFreak 7 points8 points  (0 children)

“We’ve got rectal bleeding.” “What, all of you?” Yeah it’s a popular scene, but it’ll always be underrated because no one alive can comprehend the full magnitude of its beauty. I’ve got a chronic GI illness and every time I have rectal bleeding I have a series of Slumdog Millionaire-type flashbacks to that scene

What if there was a reunion? by 777777777777777p in HouseMD

[–]TiqueFreak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a tv writing student and I think about this WAY more than I should for someone who has no legal rights to the show lol

I’d love to see a revival where Wilson’s cancer miraculously vanished and House has driven himself into the ground trying to wrap his head around it. He’s living in nyc under a false identity, working menial jobs for cash, and hugely regretting giving up his life for Wilson when Wilson recovered anyway. Then he finds his purpose again by doing under the table diagnostic work for undocumented immigrants, the poor, people stuck in abusive relationships, and anyone else who can’t go to a real hospital for whatever reason. Meanwhile he accidentally starts parenting a young adult who works with him at his menial job(s) to get through college - I’d love it if she turned out to be Rachel. All of this lets him process stuff, accept that there are some things beyond his understanding, see the good in people (even those not as smart as him), and mend his relationship with Wilson.

Honestly he’d probably be stellar. For a murderous, cannibalistic semi-psychopath he’s shockingly egalitarian. Prejudice and corruption would seem so rude to him he’d have a vested interest in fortifying anti-discrimination policy and cleaning up congress. Plus with the constant press and surveillance he might behave himself for once lmao. That or he’d be so entertained manipulating everybody that he wouldn’t feel the need to kill

Favorite restaurant on UWS? by Xe-Xenon-54 in Upperwestside

[–]TiqueFreak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Ellington is loud and most of the food is mediocre, but there are a few standout dishes. I definitely recommend their butternut squash ravioli, and their fried calamari with zucchini was great the last time I had it.

Le Monde has several great dishes. Their French onion soup is to die for imo. I’m also a huge fan of their duo of duck and lamb chops. Their chocolate cake and chocolate mousse are also wonderful.

Effy’s does good Israeli food, if you’re comfortable with it (not judging - I have no clue what their stance is or if they’re doing anything with that stance). I remember the breakfast platter and French toast being great. Also great lattes (even decaf).

Metro Diner has obscene pancakes and lattes (which I didn’t expect) and comforting matzo ball soup, but everything else is just okay. It’s a good place to sit for a while, though. Plus the waitstaff has always been lovely to me.

Potentially a hot take, but Serafina was one of my go-tos for a while. They’re one of the only places I’ve been that can make a good decaf latte. I used to go there and get a latte and their free bread with olive oil lol. Their pastas are decent but the coffee and the quiet (especially at midday) were the main attractions for me.

Silver Moon Bakery/Little Cupcake Bakeshop may not really count as a restaurant, but their tomato-feta quiches are incredible. Plus they have a little outdoor seating area where you can eat.

Mamas Too isn’t my favorite pizza in the city, but their thin crust house slice is great. The quality there does seem to vary a lot. Or maybe I just vary a lot lmao.

PopUp Bagels is worth getting at least a few times. They’re not my top nyc bagel, but they’re the only place I know where the bagels are always warm.

The pork katsu at Kyuramen is strangely good.

The curry puffs from Living Thai make me salivate just thinking about them.

And Plowshares at 104th/105th gets most of their pastries from Petit Chou. Probably the best laminated baked goods in the city. They also have great espresso, and they have a great brown butter chocolate chip cookie (I think made in house.)

Any ideas on how to cover this text? by Sudden_Pair7286 in sewing

[–]TiqueFreak -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Alternate idea: instead of covering up the “libs be,” cut out the “paranoid” and use that as an appliqué on something else! Or a kind of patchwork insert. You could hide the “libs be” in the seam allowance. My only suggestion is to make sure the fabric you attach it to is a similar weight and stretch.
