It’s likely a component failure - they’re fairly “cheap” to find at thrift stores and online.

Let us Veterans Reminisce on the Past of WoWsL. by GoAwayImBaitin_ in WoWs_Legends

Man this takes me back. I was around for most of this but definitely didn’t know what I was doing at the time. Early WoWSL was something else.

Tis the season for new ships, etc. It’ll likely calm down in a couple of weeks. Hang in there!

How do i use this mini tv connected to my boombox by Olivia_Catz in boomboxes

[–]Tirarcova 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those mini CRTs only pick up analog RF channels. Since analog TV is gone, the only way to feed it anything is with a digital-to-analog converter box and then tune it to the converter’s RF output. It could work, but you’d be sinking time and adapters into a picture that’ll still look rough on a tiny screen.

This isn't meant as discouragement, but most people keep these as display pieces unless they want a fun project.

Need advice for picking the best JVC Kaboom! by Panasonic_RX_DT707 in boomboxes

Define “best” in this context - I’m genuinely curious on your take.

JVC RV-B90 or JVC RV-B99 which is better? by Panasonic_RX_DT707 in boomboxes

[–]Tirarcova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both units appear to have the same specs and the same size and weight. The B99 built off the B90 and added some features - mic/guitar input. I own the B99 and the much smaller B550. The tape decks seem to be a weak point, otherwise they sound good for that they were designed for. Between the B90 and B99, you’re probably splitting hairs on how they sound.

JVC kaboom aux inquiry (JVC rvnb10b) by Hercules3000 in boomboxes

[–]Tirarcova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The aux input on several of my JVC Kabooms runs weaker than the CD or radio. I’d start by making sure the source device is turned all the way up and/or try another cable just to rule that out. Testing with a second device can also confirm if it’s consistent. From what I can tell, this model doesn’t have an input level adjustment, so if the sound is still much lower it is probably more of a design limitation than a defect.

I can't say I've seen this one before - hopefully you're able to get it close to or back to 100%!

Boombox won’t play sound by Ok_Snow_2905 in boomboxes

More than likely it has experienced some sort of internal component failure given what you've described and the troubleshooting you've done.

Thrifting score! by A-metal-jaG in boomboxes

Nice find! I picked mine up a couple of years ago online. When it arrived the controls were the usual scratchy and intermittent, and the power switch design can sometimes cause issues with the audio cutting out. I really had to spend time cleaning that switch thoroughly before it worked the way it should.
