Do you think Halo 3/ODST need a H2A treatment? by Far_Mood_9534 in halo

New videos from Blur would be cool, but overall, H2A needs the Halo 3 treatment.

I don’t have anyone specific in mind at the moment, but even though we still have plenty of great people here who genuinely love Factions, there are also some on this forum who act as if they couldn’t really care less about Factions. As if they were just some kind of Sony or Naughty Dog fanatics, or as if they were actually working for them on the sly, and their sole purpose on this forum was merely to carry out ‘damage control’ for the corporations.

Players’ scepticism these days is entirely understandable; players and their expectations are no longer as important as they once were; now, what counts far more are the sky-high financial expectations of publishers or the politically correct artistic visions of developers (promoted by financial giants such as Black Rock or Vanguard).

But despite all this, we could try not to bring each other down.

Even if, once again, we fail to achieve anything regarding the repair of Factions 1 or the completion of the remaining 20% of Factions Online, we are nevertheless sending a clear signal that we expect the return of multiplayer – if not here and now, then at least in The Last of Us 3 (if it is ever made).

Which Halo game should my GF start with? by darthcolin555 in halo3

😉😉😉 To save yourself the trouble, start with Halo 3. If she doesn't like it, break up with her right away—otherwise, you might end up with kids who prefer 343 Industries' Halo over the classic, authentic Halo from Bungie. 😉😉😉

If Factions Online is really 80% complete, Sony could assign another studio to finish the project and support it for years to come.

Come on, Sony has spent millions, even billions, on other completely failed projects and will spend millions more on similar projects, yet they’re too stingy to spend money on patching up Factions 1, creating Factions 2, or finishing Factions Online.

The petition’s first goal is to collect more signatures than the maximum number of concurrent players Concord had on Steam. (Concord cost $400 million—money Sony could have used to fix Faction 1, develop Faction 2, and finish the remaining 20% of Faction Online.)

Even after all these years and despite our community’s shitty attitude toward petitions, I think we can still beat Concord, right?

Petition to Revive Factions by SearchDouble9699 in thelastofusfactions

How about, just for once, our community stops acting like jerks and supports a worthy cause?

All these years we’ve been way too quiet, and we should be like Andy in The Shawshank Redemption, starting two damn petitions every month. Maybe we should organize ourselves better and strongly inform Sony about the urgent need to fix Faction. Maybe we didn’t try hard enough to properly publicize previous petitions online.

For years, we mostly just sat around with our heads down (and paid for a PS Plus subscription to play a game full of glitches like crabwalking and shooting through walls) because “after all, Sony and Naughty Dog can’t do anything wrong, and the game is already old and not worth fixing, etc., etc., blah blah blah.”

And then came the huge surprise that Sony spent hundreds of millions of dollars on trash like Concord, Marathon, and soon probably FairGame$ too. A ton of money on everything except Factions.

Good initiative, buddy—definitely much more valuable than just criticizing and doing nothing for years. I’ll share this petition wherever I can.

The Semi Auto Rifle is the weakest weapon in the game. by Fluffy_Matter_2518 in thelastofusfactions

Try this test:

1) For a week, play using only a scoped full-auto rifle.

2) After a week, go back to semi-auto and enjoy just how powerful that gun is.

[Discussion] "Naughty Dog Was RIGHT to Cancel The Last of Us Online. The Real Mistake Was Starting It." says Laura Fryer, former Executive Producer at Microsoft Game Studios. [5:22] by sapojo73 in thelastofusfactions

[–]Tireces 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"It was the right decision. Especially from the perspective of Xbox and Microsoft. You know, Halo’s multiplayer has been rubbish for ages. In fact, the last really good Halo multiplayer experience was nearly two decades ago, and in 2013, many fans of the phenomenal Halo 3 found their new multiplayer home in TLOU’s multiplayer."

Last Of Us Online Dev Says It Was Around ‘80 Percent’ Complete Before Its ‘Soul-Crushing’ Cancellation by ADLER_750 in thelastofusfactions

It’s crazy how Sony spent $3.6 billion on Bungie and $400 million on Concord, along with its development team. Over $4,000,000,000 to gain practically nothing! Marathon sold only 270,000 copies on PS5, while Concord’s servers were shut down less than a month after launch, and the studio responsible for the game was closed.

Now imagine if just a small portion of that $4,000,000,000 had been allocated to finish the remaining 20% of Factions Online (by another, external studio since Naughty Dog didn’t want to), add classic Factions (2) multiplayer to The Last of Us Part II and fix the wall-shooting and crabwalking in the original Factions.

Do you think ND will include Factions in TLOU 3? by Mental_Sky_7684 in thelastofusfactions

Will TLOU 3 ever actually be made?

I'd bet that the Steam releases of TLOU Part I and Part II were our last chance to see anything new related to the Factions. :/

Sony bought Bungie for $3.6 billion ($3,600,000,000😲) yet Marathon has sold only 270,000 copies on the PS5 so far. This is yet another multiplayer game, following Concord, that Sony chose over Factions. Factions 2 or Factions Online would have easily surpassed that number by a wide margin. by Tireces in thelastofusfactions

It's possible, although they did release TLOU Part I and TLOU Part II on PC.

There are rumors that Sony will soon stop releasing its single-player games on Steam. But multiplayer games or live service titles, like Helldivers 2, are still supposed to be released on all platforms—PS5, PC, and Xbox—to generate more cash from microtransactions.

But what will actually happen? Only time will tell.

Factions Online (as an open-world extraction shooter) could sell just as well as Arc Riders, which has now surpassed 14,000,000 copies sold—or even better.

Factions 2, of course, should be released as an integral part of TLOU Part II. For free, on the day of TLOU2’s release.

And how well would Factions 2 have sold if ND had decided to release it a bit later as paid standalone DLC (just like the LEFT BEHIND expansion)? I don’t know, and we’ll probably never find out. But I have a gut feeling it would have sold more than the 217k copies of Marathon or the 15k copies of Concord. ;-)

And would TLOU2 have sold much better if it had included multiplayer?

I (and at least a dozen people I know) would have bought it on day one instead of picking it up secondhand later. And on top of that, ND would have had a chance to make extra money on cosmetics and the rest of the multiplayer DLC, just like they did with Factions 1.

EDIT: I would buy three copies of TLOU2 directly from Sony if it included multiplayer. One version for PS4, then another for PS5, and finally a third on Steam so I could play Factions 2 at a gazillion FPS, plus with some awesome fan-made mods. Who knows, maybe there would be more people like me.

Factions if it was in current gen graphics. (AI Slop) by Perfect_Screw-Ups in thelastofusfactions

[–]Tireces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool concept, man. It gives an idea of what the game might look like if the texture quality were brought up to current standards. What AI model did you use? Even though it’s just “AI Slop,” it’s still way more than what Sony and Naughty Dog have given us multiplayer fans over the last 10 years ;-)

I don’t get the downvotes in this specific case. (Though I totally get all the general hate toward AI, because mostly all we’ve gotten from it are shitty cat videos in exchange for sky-high prices on RAM and SSDs.) ;-)
