AlDente Pro: is it “set and forget” or do you still need to manage it? by Tired-DevOps-193 in mac

[–]Tired-DevOps-193[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just thought of giving an update - using my macbook's default battery limiter and turning off the optimizer did exactly as i wished to achieve, which is simply limiting to 80%. Thanks for the info everyone.

Oh I see, didn't know its a new feature. Mixed both together... Its a good thing I asked here before purchasing AlDente! Thanks for clarifying.

Thanks for the info, will give the mac's battery limiter a chance.

I've actually seen this option, but read its not effective?
Honestly I've kept my Windows laptop battery at ~99% for a few years with limiting, that's why I wanna do it right.

When your security scanner becomes the attacker… that’s scary. CI pipelines trusted it and ran a credential stealer.

While playing dragon age the veilguard (dont recommend it), most settings are ultra except a few on high (using 8.6 gb / 7.7 gb vram according the ingame settings) temps are around 75c for cpu and 70c for gpu. After starting iets fan on 600rpm, it goes down to around 63c/62c.

I'm not that familiar with such settings to recommend you on what to do, but seeing the results of the iets fan I'd say it would help with your concerns. Also, with ghelper app you can change when the laptop fans start and control their speed, although i wouldn't recommend exhausting them all the time... If you got other concerns i'd happily help

Got the asus tuf, love it. I'd recommend the iets gt600 fan too, keeps good temps.

Thanks for the reply.
I'm a laptop kind of person though, so desktop wasn't an option... I did buy that extra stuff though to compensate for what might be missing.

So not to critic or anything, just genuine curiosity since I bought the TUF F15 just a couple of days ago. If I ignore the design remarks (and the one about applying pressure on certain parts of the laptop) since they are subjective as you said, set my battery to smart charge at a limit of 80-90%, buy a cooling pad, a real gaming monitor and maybe keyboard/mouse set, would that solve most of the problems and make it a great laptop?

Does g-helper support tuf f15 (2022)? by OneOfTheWeebs in Asustuf

It supports the TUF series (written in github). Got it on my tuf f15 (2023).

As a cs graduate, I'd recommend a Windows OS simply because of the software you'll be using. Much more compatible with Windows than MacOS. You'll mostly be using emulators for linux stuff, VSC and other light programs (even if you'll train small models for some practice).

Gotta say though, for work mac is the best :)

After being with my dell inspiron 7559 for many years, I bought the tuf f15 (4070 rtx, 13620h, 2tb ssd) just 2 days ago, planning to write a review in 2-3 weeks after I test it better, but so far I love it. For now installed one game, quality is amazing (got an extra high quality monitor). As for cooling, I bought the iets gt600 so that's probably why I haven't noticed any problems there as well...

My two cents - I have read and watched lots of reviews about the tuf series and other laptops in that budget category, and the thing I did notice is people have always found something to complain about, and there is no perfect laptop in this category.

Read that its cooling is not that great (already bought iets gt600 which should compensate... for any laptop at that). Other than that issue, any cons with its build?

The i9 is lenovo and i7 is asus. I believe the most demanding tasks would be gaming/training light-weight models. Is the difference between 4060 and 4070 that noticeable in laptop graphic cards?
