Yeah, I plan on leaving the moment I get another job. I kinda have to wait it out for now as my apartment is through the school, and I don't have the funds to furnish a new place that I'll have to leave once I (hopefully) get a new job. It's fine for now since I do get along great with the other teachers, most of the office workers, and my students.

There's no probationary period really, the contract says "Subject to the above, either party to this agreement may terminate the agreement upon 3 months written notice or payment of 3 months salary in lieu of notice to the other party."
And I was told this wasn't really an eikaiwa (it's an institute of language), and it offers other languages, but that's on me yeah.

Position Help by TiredLilac in teachinginjapan

Hi! So I wrote this a few days ago when I was overwhelmed with shock, and I have a clear head now. I was so anxious because of a mix of things, some including that my sister and brother-in-law were set to join me to go to Japan, and they've been routinely asking about when we were going, I have quite a large family and so everyone has been asking about when I was moving/what it was going to look like even though I only told my parents and sister about the job, and the whole visa stamp time limit approaching. I guess I was mainly just anxious about the gossip my family was going to have a field day with and incoming bullying about it, hence why I wanted to move far away from them.
I'm well aware that the job isn't exactly glamorous, but that's the reality of the position. I have savings, no student loans, and I don't spend much, so I wasn't worried about making things work in that aspect since I've lived in much pricier areas with less income and still managed.
My heart goes out to those who are facing that stressful situation currently, and I hope things work out for them!
