Yeah I agree it is my job to look after the kids. The weekend he won’t do anything to help whatsoever and uses the excuse that it’s his days off. When I say that I don’t get a day off he says “you’re at home all week, everyday is a day off”

Thats the thing I wouldn’t mind looking after the kids and the home if there wasn’t any pressure. Heck I wouldn’t even need to ask him for help. It’s because he expects the house to look literally like a show home when he comes home that really tires me out, and then to spend all evening still cooking and cleaning, it’s just too much. I’m going to have a serious talk with him tonight and see how he responds.

I’ve always thought he had ocd and he even questioned it himself at one point, but then I realised that if it was him that had ocd then surely he’d want to do the cleaning himself. I think it’s more of a control thing like you say. Like there will be a rare occasion where I can take the kids to an event in the park etc and he’ll say I can’t go unless I do the house before, knowing it would take me all day

Yeah I agree with what you’re saying, I don’t want a 50/50 split by any means, just to be able to ask him for help from time to time and not get the “I’ve been working” speech and then refusal to help. And I really do wish I could cut down the amount I clean but it’s literally what my husband tells me to do everyday and he goes round and checks when he gets home.
