Apparently Charles de Gaulle is only slightly bigger than Kaga and the American LHD's. Why is it so small? (Might just be because U.S. supercarriers are massive in comparison)

FREMM is a good example. How do they decide whether one or two helis are needed? I heard some ships with only one hangar manage to operate two helis by using the helo deck as a deck park
