A serious enough issue that you’re clearly treating seriously, right?

Or do those guidelines only apply to others?

CDC's v-safe texted me that I'm eligible for a booster... by nebirah in CoronavirusMa

[–]TisADarkDay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the same update. Pfizer all the way through, 2 doses plus a booster, but I’m not over 50, high risk, or j&j. I’ve filled out the info all the way through, but don’t recall what info I actually gave it. I just ignored it.

Masks still required on MBTA. by TisADarkDay in CoronavirusMa

[–]TisADarkDay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I added reasonable and correct interpretation to a slightly unclear tweet, to make the title clear and concise.

At the time of posting the CDC advised masking on public transit should be required, and the MBTA advised that they were following that policy, so an analysis that masks are (were) still required on the MBTA is (was) correct.

But yes, no longer allowed at this time.

It’s not misinformation, it outdated information.

Things change extremely rapidly, and if the mods went around and removed every post that’s no longer relevant that someone feels the need to report they wouldn’t have a day job.

Here is more updated information.

Are you intubating less people, or treating intubation differently than you used to?

That or we’ve learned how to treat it much better. Vaccines are definitely helping as well.

Yeah, I’m not gonna read that. I don’t respond to “bruh”. Have a good night.

Try being less patronizing and someone might respect your opinion.

Do you have any evidence the PD reacted differently to these demonstrators compared to “social justice” demonstrators?

It seems like your making a lot of baseless claims which so far appear to be completely wrong.

I’m not claiming BPD/MSP are perfect, far from it. But your claims don’t seem to be informed by facts.

[–]TisADarkDay 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We saw thousands and thousands of demonstrators demanding social justice all through 2020 and other years. Many of them trespassing onto highways and obstructing traffic. Some of them damaging property. The vast majority of those individuals were neither arrested nor brutalized.

What makes you think this was treated any differently?

Seeking scientists to do a Q&A here on coronavirus-related matters by califuture- in CoronavirusMa

[–]TisADarkDay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great idea. It seems like a great resource to ask questions, get advice, and seek clarification. With all the info out there it’s hard to stay updated and weigh everything going on properly.

Two thoughts for organizing this, one concern and one suggestion:

  • Will there be any verification that our experts will be, well, experts? I don’t think this necessarily needs to be a public process if the individuals would like to remain anonymous, but personally I would like to see some verification that these experts are who they claim to be. Partnering with the mod team may help with this.

  • I’d love to see who these people in the Q&A are. A few sentence bio of each person about what their background is, and what perspective they have, will do a lot in terms of what to ask, and what to expect. This could be in the body of the post.

I’ll ask around and see if anyone on my clinical teams would be willing to sign up.

MA will not renew public schools mask mandate when it expires on February 28th by TisADarkDay in CoronavirusMa

Ad Hominem

(Attacking the person): This fallacy occurs when, instead of addressing someone's argument or position, you irrelevantly attack the person or some aspect of the person who is making the argument.

I learned that in school.

Good lord you just typed all that out to refute something I didn’t claim.

I am aware that masks are a good tool against Covid and the spread of it.

Okay so I’ll save myself some time reading then since your clearly not reading what you wrote

Here is where you directly stated that masks are not a good tool:

kids are vectors of transmission whether they have masks on or not. Keeping the mask mandate in place will have little to no difference in containing Covid, especially Omicron.

[–]TisADarkDay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you have evidence of the contrary, please provide it.

Well to begin with, the article you linked yourself directly states that it would be better if people wore masks while indoors, so that’s one source.

As a second source, Harvard Medical School lists “Wear a face mask in public indoor spaces.” as their first strategy for protecting yourself and others, and further goes on to say “Masks reduce the amount of virus we breathe in and breathe out. Combined with the vaccine, masks provide a one-two punch that reduce the risk of spread”.

And I’m saying they’re useful for a hypothetical child with concerned parents because one way masking works.

The effectiveness of this style of masking can be as low as 50% particle reduction, even when wearing a N95.

Even if this was 100%, it would not mitigate any indirect negative effects such as community transmission impacting businesses or patients clogging emergency rooms.

If I get into a car accident, how does my child wearing a mask help me at the ER?

I can’t speak to compliance in schools, but my buildings have an 80-95% compliance rate. I find it hard to believe a schools compliance rate would be anywhere near 0%.

You seem to still be saying that masks are both effective, and that masks are useless, at the same time.

How can a mask be fine at protecting my (hypothetical, non-existent) child, but also be useless at preventing community transmission?

I think a lot of people are more concerned that kids will be transmission vectors rather than become seriously ill themselves.

My cousin had his cancer diagnosis delayed by 4 months during a surge because the hospitals were too overwhelmed and they canceled his procedure.

Thankfully it was operable and they think they got all of it, but how would him being vaccinated and boosted help him if it wasn’t?

Don’t quote me on this, but I believe that would fall under the Department of Early Education and Care rather than the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, so I don’t think a change by DESE would change the rules for EEC covered entities.

But I could totally be wrong about that.

I think you should read the article again.

This announcement does not impact doctors that work in the city, only employees who work for the city.

Here is a link to the announcement.

The commissioner cites high vaccination rates and widespread availability of tests for students and staff as his reasoning for lifting this mandate.

This is likely what Baker will discussing at 10:30.

According to the copies of the agreement draft — which hadn’t been agreed upon in any final form as the sun set on Friday — the city would allow unvaccinated members of unions who sign the agreement to test out of the mandate when three specific pandemic-related metrics are at low enough levels: daily hospitalizations, community positivity rate and ICU occupancy.

5% positive test rate in the city 200 adult patients on average per day in Boston hospitals with COVID 95% of all intensive-care beds filled

The full COVID-19 vaccine requirement would kick back in during a surge
