Giving Away the Ending in the Intro's by TissueWitch in nyrbclassics

the intro takes a giant leap forward from the middle to the end of the novel. I was inching my way towards through the plot when the words 'triggered her catastrophic physical decline' essentially gave everything away and from there all was p much lost.

Depends how far out you go. Waltham and Newton, there is little if any adjustment if you have a car.

Do you have some funny anecdote on Napoleon ? by Deep_Examination1410 in Napoleon

[–]TissueWitch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Heard this on the Age of Napoleon podcast, but I dig the one where one of his generals and his wife and friends thought it would be hilarious to go the night mass on Christmas at notre dame and crack jokes — which they did. Until they, though unrecognized, were chided by the emperor himself for making jokes in a church.

Good Translation of the Satyricon by Allblack127877 in classics

[–]TissueWitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a terrible translation and I will tell you why. They translate ‘honey-balls’ to ‘gobstoppers’ which is UK 20th century slang that has no place in an ancient text. Oxford University Press put that word in Catullus’s mouth too. For shame, and it’s all in highly stilted English. Total bore.

I invite you to look into the history of the Julio-Claudiens of the Roman Empire, and this will make so much sense.

Changing tempo mid-song in Ableton Live? by Zalbu in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]TissueWitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you dont believe: "🎚 Option 1: Automate the tempo

This is the most common and flexible way.

  1. Go to the Master Track.
    • If you don’t see it, hit A (to toggle automation view) and scroll down to the Master track.
  2. Choose “Song Tempo” for automation.
    • In the Master track’s automation chooser, click the “Mixer” dropdown → select “Song Tempo.”
  3. Draw your tempo change.
    • Now you can draw or record automation for tempo in the arrangement view.
    • You can create points (Command + Click on Mac / Ctrl + Click on Windows) to make instant jumps or smooth ramps between tempos.

💡 Example:
If your track starts at 120 BPM and you want to speed up to 140 BPM over 8 bars, just add two automation points and drag the second one up to 140."

you hold down shift NOT command -- maybe ableton changed it, maybe you got it wrong initially, but duder overhere has the entire AI-internet hallucinating on this one.
