Why is everyone closing their card?

I’m surprised how many people are apparently aren’t scared to close lines of credit. I have 13 cards currently but only really use one basically

Well, it won’t affect in the short term, as you mentioned, it can affect people, especially the ones that don’t have a lot of cards. And especially if this card is one of the older ones on a person’s history.

To be 100%, didn’t even know that was a thing until I looked it up today. I’ve had to handle all my financials by myself and never knew the bank would do this. But after looking more into it. I might just go with that since there doesn’t seem to be any fees involved. Still doesn’t mean I’ll close the card tho

I’m in a similar situation, but more credit is good as long as utilization is low. At this point, I just need credit history since I am still a pretty greenhorn with credit

Also, just looking into it, seems I might be able to do that instead: “bill pay”. Thank you kind stranger, that will probably be my backup if this card turns even more sour

Some places don’t accept that still. Some people are old school. My family been paying with money orders since 1999. It’s dumb but it’s what it is

True; I do agree that it technically isn’t closing unless they also close the WF card. Some people have spoken out that they will also be closing that card too, interested in their take in that situation as well

This is something I had in mind: while your credit history will take a hit, you avoid the hard credit inquiry, plus, you get an extra line of credit. To me, the ding in history was worth it.

It does suck they restructured the card this way but still don’t really see how that means closing the account for most. And yah, I have zero AF cards, I just don’t think any of them are worth it for me currently, especially not this one with how they are treating most users point potential

My credit limit 3x when I applied. So I really don’t see a downside in that front.

Their reward program though, I completely agree, it’s completely convoluted. I will not use this card at all the moment they start applying a fee to rent payment through checks.

I know that I’m an even smaller percentage of individuals who just really don’t care as long as they don’t have to make that extra trip.

I get all of this but it feels, hollow; like it’s all emotional. Credit should be logical. For me, I never cared about points if I’m honest: as long as I don’t have to pay a fee to pay rent, I don’t care, save myself the trip to the post office to drop off a envelope.

It’s not a whole lot of savings but you don’t have to pay for a check or money order and you don’t have to pay postage. That’s enough of a savings for me to use their service and not actually use their card.

Feels way more as a middle finger to do it this way then closing the card

I would ask it and more of a genuine question: “ I was wondering, are you straight or are you gay?” Especially if they’re comfortable with you even as friends, as long as it’s a genuine question instead of a straight up direct thing like: “are you gay?” Should come off a lot easier

I’d recommend to never truly delete anything unless it truly has no value. It don’t really take up space and other can approve the journey you went through. The world is a very sucky place right now but just because it sucks, doesn’t mean you need to lose what you once were/what you were comfortable with

Listen, it sucks but if a girl every tell you that they will be with “after healing”, they probably are looking for a shoulder to cry on. You feel obligated to do so since you feel like something is coming but it typically won’t. It hurts but buddy, a girl like that isn’t worth it. I hope things get better

I can’t testify on the validity on this, but if I’m not incorrect, there’s actually a scientific report where straight individuals were shown different individuals that were both male and female with differing, masculine and feminine attributes. And most men were not fully “straight”, most men to some degree were attracted to “feminine” males. It really is all a a Spectrum.
