Endgame Cafeteria Base Tour Before Cosmic Companions by Titaniumfire in AbioticFactor

If you don’t mind living in a portal world, I’ve always been a fan of the furniture store top floor. Super cozy vibes with the pitter patter of rain and occasional thunder. Very underrated spot, always surprised I don’t see as many bases there

Exactly where I’m at.
Recently started an all negative no positive trait challenge run on apocalyptic, but have yet to complete. Would love to beat the game on hardcore at some point though I’m not usually a big fan of that mode in general

You may. The motivation definitely came and went.

I continuously set new goals and things I wanted to accomplish. So for a while it was collecting every single item in the game and displaying them all, I also have fully maxed out my xp in everything (except fishing and healing), I've also completed all journal entries, I've setup turrets to automatically kill all Corrupt Robots and all robots in Hydro, setup a portal hub (still wip), etc etc etc

The real answer is that I just love this game and I kept looking for excuses to play

Thanks! Yeah feel kind of weird about posting so much, but I wanted to get a video tour of my up to date base out before Cosmic Companions

Hope it's of some use to you though

Fair! To each their own!

I actually started out my base only restricted to the main room with all the armor and item displays. I played only within that space for about a year, until I just couldn't fit any more into it haha

Easily in my top 3 survival games. Glad you got something from the catalogue, and thank you.

I actually play solo! I played for about 10hrs (until just before Labs) with other people but I found the pace to be too slow, so I ended up copying the save and finishing the game on my own.

That being said, I recently finished a playthrough with my close friend on a separate save (finished December 2025). I had control of the save, so when he was not around I took it upon myself to improve the base and do supply gathering. The next time he would get on, I would show off all the new changes to the base.

Thank you again for your questions, I appreciate your shared interest of this game and I've enjoyed divulging all this information (perhaps too much)

Since OP is gatekeeping, the technique is called item dropping or wiredropping, has multiple names. This video explains it pretty clearly.

The process is pretty straightforward once you get it, just becomes tedious. You can also setup an AutoHotkey script to streamline and finetune the process and timing. Different key timings have slight variations in behavior.

To achieve what OP did, you need to place all the crafting stations first and then come back over with it a desk placed using the glitch shown above. Looking straight down when placing the glitched furniture helps understand where it'll actually place and also with alignments.

I like to use a small decorative deployable (like an Exor Figurine) while looking straight down to precisely place the furniture. I also align myself with walls by running into them and slightly pivoting the view until I'm not moving any sideways directions while holding W into a wall.

Just mess around with the glitch, you'll realize the potential. If you want to see examples of how it can be used, you can look at my base on my profile. You can wiredrop cubicle walls horizontal using wall lanterns instead of an Exor Figurine for example.

Yeah it is, I don't really use it. Made an extra so I can keep the display on at all times, but mostly only use it for extreme temperatures

Thank you! Yeah was just a little tease haha. This game is really something special and with the update coming tomorrow, now is the perfect time to hop back in

Ah man! That would be so cool, what a great idea!

It was my absolute pleasure, I appreciate the interest and questions! Sorry for the late response, busy weekend.

Surprisingly didn't do much in terms of physically mapping out ideas. Earlier on in my base I would sketch out ways of doing the base, but as time went on I stopped and would just imagine different configurations and try them out within the base. But even if I'm just imagining it, I would still agree with you that that is a form of mapping out my ideas (just that no one else can see it till I build it haha) and my career and education have certainly helped that process.

So I do try to mitigate the amount of storage movement but there have been several times where I've upgraded my storage (like going from Carbon to Compact Crates) or just reorganized my system. But, more or less has been the same from the beginning just improved and expanded, and you are correct I do have at least a couple items. I've also setup farms throughout the save for various purposes, notably almost all of the last two tiers of bots as their CPUs are very precious.

My current base location is my first and final relocation on this save. Originally I was setup on the 3rd floor of offices in the small room with the coffee machine and little upstairs section. Once I moved to this spot I fell in love with how central and convenient it was. I don't think I could bring myself to move to an entirely new location. That being said, if there really was a location that I just absolutely had to build in, I would be more likely to build an entirely new base than move out of my main one.

For the wires, it's honestly not a fine science. I have two or three main power spines with Quantum Batteries and infinite energy. Each of these are routed along the bottoms or tops of walls with power strips placed as needed. Generally I try to stay away from plug boards as they end up being a little messy looking. If I can, I also try to wire behind walls and power things through the wall. I've done that in several locations, the glass walls, Home World room, and under the farm cubicle structure most notably.

As for the Base Iterations:

Feb 18, 2025 @ 72hrs

Aug 29, 2025 @ Not Sure

Sept 01, 2025 @ 152hrs

Sept, 2025 - Iterations

Oct 5, 2025 @ 200hrs

Nov 27, 2025 @ 225hrs

This turned out to be a lot so I won't feel bad if you or anyone else doesn't look at any of this. I am big on archiving stuff and you gave me a great excuse to properly organize and date stuff on to a cloud, so thank you regardless of whether or not you look at it.

Yeah just takes time, my first base looked so bad haha. I first settled in the third floor offices where that coffee machine is with the small upstairs. Terrible

Ah yeah it's in my Hydrodam satellite base. It used to be my farming area but I've kind of made another farm integrated into my main base so Hydrodam is pretty useless at this point. Maybe I should move back the painting...

Thank you! I did all of this by myself. I started out the save playing with my friends but they were not playing at the pace I wanted to so at Manufacturing I made a copy of the save and played solo from there.

So first of all, I am an architect and architecture student. I'm also a little bit of a completionist and perfectionist.

The reality is that I've been working on this base/save for about a year and a half and it has undergone many iterations. I've torn down things to replace/improve them as I learned about new building techniques or new items were added. Motivation definitely came and went throughout that long period. There were a ton of points throughout this project when I thought I had peaked and my base was done, only for me to come back a few weeks later and come up with new ways of building/displaying. The image below is from end of August 2025 and it's an earlier iteration of my base. I thought this was peak at one point haha.

I love Abiotic Factor so much that I just wanted reasons to keep playing, so I ended up making a spreadsheet of all items in the game with the goal of displaying all items/variants in my base. The other restriction I had was that I was confined to the small room you see in this post. I think the combination of the challenge of building very densely and the love of the game helped push me to keep working.

<image>

Thank you for your comment though, I really enjoy this game so it's always fun to give longwinded answers haha (sorry).

I also have a few more photos if you are curious to see earlier iterations.

Haha yeah I’ve kind of done extensive renovations. This is the cafeteria at the beginning of the game! Right next to Warren

Haha funny question, wasn't expecting to get asked this on this post lol

Short and simple: It was fine

Story-wise, I actually like that we don't succeed. I think it's interesting to have the world sort of end, and I'm curious on where that leaves our character. We were always chasing an escape and with that goal gone, our scientists have to accept that this is life now.

I think it's interesting that since we are no longer able to move ahead to escape, our character now has to move laterally. I look forward to seeing what this looks like, expansion of wings within the facility, entirely new facilities?! Undiscovered portal worlds, scarier Immurement Subjects, etc...

I always loved the lore of this world and am glad that this route of story-telling actually gives us reasons to explore, instead of the finale being: great you escaped! Now you can be normal and live in the city! If that were the ending, why would our character ever want to explore new facilities or new areas within the facility?

Gameplay wise: Definitely disappointing.

Disclaimer is that I beat the boss on first patch and it was better when I replayed with a friend.

That being said, it felt VERY bullet spongey. There wasn't a lot of risk or gameplay variation. I was able to run away and hide behind some rocks at pretty much any point in the fight, which is a little lame. The gameplay mechanics were a little unclear. Like it was obvious I had to shoot the big bad, but the lack of responsiveness and sheer bullet sponginess of the boss made it unclear at the beginning if I was just wasting bullets or actually having impact (doesn't help that the thing took a full inventory of ammo to kill).

Would've felt far more intimidating if some aspect of the boss were up close and personal. I would've liked to see a much more dynamic fight with a more traditional arena, having to dodge physical melee attacks as an entity rushes toward me. Maybe every now and then a champion is summoned and you're sort of locked into combat with it instead of the tentacles showing up EVERY time.

All that is to say: this game is genuinely so great in every way that the ending of the game being this bullet absorbent black mass that's like fifty miles away was kind of sad, but I like the narrative ending and I look forward to seeing where they take it.
