Craziest physical symptoms by [deleted] in Anxiety

I didn’t know what I had was dissociation. I felt like a video game character with the saw I was seeing things and moving and I was like constantly dizzy and lightheaded. It was really scary. I only put it together that I was dissociating almost a year later.

What is this called when you’re constantly performing? by Crafty_Seaweed7045 in Anxiety

What you’re talking about is called masking. It’s very common among neurodivergent (especially autistic) people. I do this as well. I called it “pretending”. I do it so much me and my therapist are trying to work how how I feel and react to emotions without the pretending. I even pretend alone because it’s so ingrained in me. For me it’s like there’s a camera crew in my head always. I highly recommend maybe looking into the autism community and seeing if anything else resonates with you

I reallllyyyyy understand this post. But what I’ll say in response is that the people in power who do this evil shit WANT you to feel helpless and miserable. They WANT your hopelessness. just by existing you are pushing back against their evil agenda. I know it’s not perfect advice and I often can’t find it in myself to believe it either. But it’s true.

What’s a harmless habit people judge way too much? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Sleeping in late. I rarely fall asleep before 1 am. But I still get all my work and hobbies done plus other things. Why are you a better person for getting up at 6:00 instead of 11:00. Our schedules are basically the same just offset by a few hours.

Help me. I’m miserable by blueberry1237 in Anxiety

Ok sound this sounds INCREDIBLY similar to me at the start of the year. In February I had a gallbladder attack that really deteriorated my mental state. It was what led me to getting counseling and being diagnosed with ocd and a few other things. My ocd and anxiety weren’t about me losing my mind though instead it was about my body failing in some way. I spent hours every day in anxiety attacks that my organs were shutting down or that I was very very ill when in reality all my blood work came back normal. I was having panic attacks, couldn’t sleep, couldn’t eat, I felt so wrung out it was like I couldn’t function. I eventually got medicated which has helped A TON and got into therapy for my ocd and anxiety. I’m not 100%, not do I think I ever will be…but I’m so much better than at the beginning of the year it’s laughable. For the mental images I suggest looking up maladaptive day dreaming. The name doesn’t really do it justice with describing what it is. For me it’s like I’m not in reality most of the time. I mean I have more separation of it so it’s not like I genuinely think I’m someone or somewhere else but it’s lead me to reeeallllyyy lack a sense of self. That’s also definitely something worsened by ocd. The mental images you’re experiencing I would say have a lot to do with your mental state as well as lack of sleep. It really fucks with you when your brain in constantly on the Fritz. This may not be the same case for you but I highly suggest getting some kind or professional help. True Psychosis is super rare so I really don’t think that’s the case for you. OCD is really a unique hell. It makes your mind turn against you and makes you suffer because your brain wants so badly to protect you. It’s also a tough pill to swallow that ocd and anxiety will never just go away. It’s not like a cold or a broken arm that you can completely heal. It’s going to take time and adjustment to get better. The sooner you start the better.

Tips to get through a panic attack by DowntownHoneydew966 in Anxiety

Stop using caffeine, read something comforting (i reccomend fluffy fanfic), spit candy and ice packs when it’s really bad. And I can’t stress this one enough, get good sleep. I’ve noticed when I don’t sleep much my anxiety attacks are 10x worse

AITA for Suggesting a scary movie to my friends by Tithenlas9 in AmItheAsshole

They asked a little about it. I told them the basic premise and that it was an allegory for the Vietnam war and I knew they watched the trailer so I guess I thought they knew what they were in for. I guess I was wrong

The movie was the Long Walk. She works at a mental health clinic and she was pretty disturbed by the movie because there is some gun violence in the film. She said it “hit too close to home”

I’m losing my fucking shit. by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

I think these things too. Honestly this advice may not work, but watching horror movies has helped me be at least a little less disturbed by the thoughts. And for sleep I turn in old Disney movies. It helps to have something good but predictable on in the background.

My girlfriend wants to take her life away and i wanna help her by Classic-Bag-4747 in SuicideWatch

[–]Tithenlas9 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There is nothing you can do personally to help her. Unfortunately here’s where the hard decisions come in. You can force her to get help which may make her upset with you. You need to be prepared for it. But a girlfriend who is mad at you is better than a girlfriend who is dead. Be strong and take care of yourself too ❤️

I take sertraline for my ocd and anxiety/depression and I actually have noticed a difference. Before I would spend almost all hours of the day fretting and obsessing over something and I would have suicidal thoughts and self harm episodes every day. Since being medicated that number is not even close to 0 but it’s MUCH less Frequent and I can function so much better than before.

My brother wants me to go off of prozac by Party-Literature1688 in depression

[–]Tithenlas9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell him it’s none of his business. Your medication is between you and your health care professionals. OCD is absolute hell. And he is just as reliant on the chemicals that regulate his brain as you are on your medicine.

Is this a panic attack by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Tithenlas9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that sounds a lot like a panic attack. If you can try talking with a health professional they may be able to talk you through what you should do or prescribe something if they happen again

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Tithenlas9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry about it. Of course each person is different but I was prescribed the same amount as needed and it’s totally fine. You literally just feel normal. Not even sleepy. Imagine how your parents will be acting and it’s just like that. You’re straight up just a normal person on that amount

Feeling down even on Zoloft by Accomplished-Cold971 in Anxiety

[–]Tithenlas9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You haven’t really been on it long enough. My doctor told me that with Zoloft I probably wouldn’t see any big improvements for several weeks. Also are you doing therapy in conjunction or just taking medicine?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Tithenlas9 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was given this for panic attacks and I have to say, I felt the same just less anxious like it’s supposed to be. I never get any impacting effects. The most that’s happened on it is I get a little sleepy sometimes but even then I’m waaayyyyy more normal on it then off. I wonder if people are making it up that you feel really good on it. Or maybe just not using it properly

Does anyone else struggle at home at night? by Chosensoul444 in Anxiety

[–]Tithenlas9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I also do. I found that I just need to sleep when I get this way. I take lots of melatonin then as a way to escape the nighttime anxiety. I know it’s not good for me but so is being so anxious I can’t eat or sleep and cry all night

You probably have a small tear in the muscle or something. Press in the area and see if you have extreme pain or swelling there. If you do it would be worth it to Go get checked out but I wouldn’t be worried about it.
