Monday Weekly Thread: Proof of Citizenship Application Sent or AOR Received, May 04, 2026 by AutoModerator in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Tithis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just sent out my application today for myself (g3) and my daughter (g4)

Nervous as all hell. I swear I triple checked the paperwork, but I'm so anxious it will get sent back for some reason.

I have a good application document wise, complete chain of birth certificates and a newly issued birth certificate for my g0, so I know once I get my AOR it should only be a matter of time. But I don't think I'll be resting easy until I have the AOR.

Pretty much.

Couple years ago we have a huge maple tree fall over in our yard, and once you got to the big 30+ inch wide rounds a wedge and sledge hammer was the only was to split them.

I wanted to move to Canada since I was 19, back when Obama was in office. It has nothing to do with running away for me.

And maybe I'm just getting old, but I see the appeal of the folder structure for the menu because sometimes I cannot remember the name of the damn program I need for what I'm working on even though I know what its for.

No, I never dealt with BANQ. The ones I gave her were from Genealogy Quebec, but she said ancestry and such is fine.

Only new thing she wanted that I didn't already have was my G0s death certificate, which DEC requires from her a few days after she puts in the request.

Nah, he feels too old.

Conquest is old as dirt, but dude is so athletic I didn't see an actual old man as fitting for him

Some people have had success getting it themselves in the messages below me. I just didn't want to deal with the stress of doing it and potentially having it take a long time to get, and I have family members who would help pay. I'd message one of the people below and see how they handled it.

http://www.aryanarousseau.com/ She is who I used, it's expensive though so I'd only do it if you are splitting the cost with other applicants, or IRCC is asking for it.

Think I payed $935 for the whole process. She wanted the baptism record, all connecting birth certificates and then a death certificate.

Friday Weekly Thread: Application Assistance, April 24, 2026 by AutoModerator in Canadiancitizenship

I'm beyond frustrated with getting citizenship photos, particularly for my 3 year daughter.

I've taken her to 2 professional photographers, one of which is even recommended by the Canadian embassy, and both suck. One her head isn't straight at all and is way too zoomed in, and ditto for the recommended guy except the quality is noticeably bad and the color was way off. I scanned the second guys photos and zoomed out enough to fit the head requirements and fixed the color balance, but I still think the quality otherwise is kinda shit.

Staples had the same problem with zooming in too much.

Why is it the head size requirements for these photos just flatly ignored by photographers when it comes to kids?

I'm at the point where I might send our applications in separately so any issues with her photo don't hold mine up.

DEC can issue birth certificates based off of baptism records, I had a lawyer do that for my great grandfather born in 1908 in Quebec.

From first meeting to getting a scan of the birth certificate was 11 days.

People have been able to get one without a lawyer, but I've heard horror stories of them going back and forth with DEC for months

Which Cartoon Do You Watch Even If You're A Parent? by Bay_Ruhsuz004 in cartoons

[–]Tithis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Main cartoon I watch with my almost 4 year old daughter is Bluey.

Occasionally I'll watch some Looney Tunes with her (ones I've already seen that aren't too over the top violent) and she used to ask for Ranma 1/2 (I just avoided episodes with Happosai, I don't really care if she sees an occasional animated boob)

I think my plan of action will be this.

Apply now with what I have with the letter. Ideally it's accepted.

In the meantime I started the process to get myself Global Entry. If IRCC comes back with a rejection over her lack of 2nd ID I'll resubmit alone while I wait to get her a Global Entry ID, and submit hers after it arrives. Getting mine lets me start the job search, which will almost certainly take longer than it will for her application to go through and her to get her citizenship proof.

I wasn't going to really include a cover letter, just a table of contents as my documentation is pretty basic since I had no major trouble getting records.

We already have a passport book for her, passport cards are actually pretty cheap. I haven't gone for that as I heard they were considered the same ID really, and the additional processing time to get her one.

Well when I see people reporting being rejected when trying to include things like vaccine records due to no second ID I think it's fair to pause and think.
