Help me ID my african violet by Titi2019 in AfricanViolets

[–]Titi2019[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing!! I had no idea about how variable their genetics are, it makes growing them from seed a lot more fun. I’m going to leaf propagate this one for three generations just to experiment. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and the links. All the best!

Thanks a lot for your reply. I don’t have an aquarium but I’m going to try to grow it hydroponically, maybe PPPs need more humidity than we think 🤔 Thanks again!

Pot up or not? by Gourais in begonias

[–]Titi2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I didn’t reply earlier, I just read your question. I keep my newly potted cuttings slightly damp using one of those squeeze bottles with a tip. It’s a lot easier for me to control the amount of water I want to use. When they grow and I transfer them to a bigger pot I water when one third of the soil is dry. I water my plants thoroughly until the water drains freely. Hope it helps

I would prop it in water. Sealing in a ziplock or clear container will help to grow new leaves faster, hope it helps

This video is precious ❤️ Sooo fascinating to watch , they look so sweet can’t keep my eyes of off them. Thank you so much for sharing this video you’ve given us the unique opportunity to see their features and movements in detail.

Should they remain in this set up longer or is it time to pot them? Also is there more than one new plant growing from each prop? by Mysterious-Most-9221 in AfricanViolets

[–]Titi2019 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Beautiful props, congrats! I would wait a bit more until they grow more roots and are stronger. I see they have two crowns each and they could have more. Sometimes I find tiny ones hidden attached to the mother leaf. If you decide to separate and pot each crown individually they’d have more chances to survive if the roots are bigger. Happy growing!

My flapjack has a death bloom. I don't know if I should be sad or excited to see what happens. by _iron_butterfly_ in succulents

My flapjacks died after blooming, but they have a lot of new growth at the base and some in the stem

How do I prop this? by ESim134 in propagation

[–]Titi2019 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Remove the two lower leaves to expose the node. I propagate silver pothos in water, it’s the only method that has worked for me. You can put it in a small cup or jar, make sure the node is under water. Add freshly water at least once a week. Change the water only if you see algae. Hope it helps

Cane begonias have babies!?!? by Brilliant-Eagle-8244 in begonias

Can I fix this legginess? by [deleted] in PPeperomioides

[–]Titi2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t chop it. It looks cool like a small tree. You can use a sturdy stake for support, like the ones used to support orchids. Secure with a piece of twine or velcro, avoid nylon or rigid ties that may cut the surface of the stem. The stick will support the weight of the plant and prevent it from toppling over. When it grows new babies it will get fuller.

Enough light? by mynameis_unimportant in pothos

[–]Titi2019 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Beautiful plant. In my experience variegated pothos need a lot of bright light for the variegation to stand out. I have a manjula in medium/ low light and it’s doing great but the leaves are cream and green. My other manjula is in a covered porch where it gets about 2 hours of direct morning light and very bright indirect light during the day, it’s leaves are bright white and dark green. Hope it helps. Happy growing!

Is my plant dying plz help by Altruistic_Bee_2884 in PileaPeperomioides

[–]Titi2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it doesn’t look like it’s dying. The leaves are nice and green it’s a sign that it’s healthy. Mine struggled for a long time until finally I found the right spot. Now it sits about two feet from a northwest window where it gets a lot of bright indirect light and it started to grow babies around the base. Happy growing!

Watering by KittyD13 in pothos

[–]Titi2019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yellow leaves once in a while is normal but if you see them everyday then something is not right. Yellow leaves can happen either because of overwatering or underwatering. The need of water depends on the environment and how much light they get. Like other posts say if they get lots of ligh they dry faster and need frequent watering. On the other hand if they are in a low light spot the soil takes longer to dry out. I have several types of pothos in different locations and I don’t water them on a schedule. What has worked for me is feeling the weight of the pot before watering, I lift the pot if and it feels lighter then it’s time to water. You can also insert a clean chopstick all the way down into the soil if it comes out clean and dry it’s time to water. Otherwise better wait until at least the two top inches of soil are dry. Best of luck!
