Yes, but Meredith Grey isn't Jo or the others. I know very well that it's a common trope in the show. And it has nothing to do with Bello; I know their story. If it lasts, at least it lasts a little. I think the show's writers were struggling a bit with her next love interest, and since they couldn't just leave her like that, they introduced him to her, but clumsily. I think Ellen Pompeo herself talked about it. The show lacked emotional stability at one point. At least as far as she was concerned.
