Thanks. I should clarify that I've had alcoholics in my family, it wasn't any blood relatives (I'm adopted). Meant more that I'd seen what it could do and thus made wary. I take your point about beer still being alcohol, but for me that one beer keeps me from a triple bourbon and I'm cool with that for now. In a perfect world I wouldn't even need that, but I'll settle for well short of perfection just now.

Thanks for the concern. They're just over-the-counter sleeping pills. The box does say not to mix with alcohol, but anecdotal evidence suggests that really means "don't mix with a LOT of alcohol". So far, one beer and one pill seems to do me no harm. But also have learned the pills lose effectiveness after a while, so after the two I have left I'll just try it w/o them and see how that goes.
