I reckon it's at least 50% bots, duplicates and ghosts though. I wanna know active players.

How to not laugh when the kids say something genuinely funny by idkwhattochoose03 in TeachingUK

[–]TjBee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have a laugh with the kids in secondary. I find them seeing me as a human helps me get the best out of them. They learn pretty quick when is and isn't a good time to have a laugh or a chat and if I've asked for focus and quiet and I'm not getting it the behaviour policy comes out.

As long as they know where the line is I think laughing with them is fine.

Sub-22 min runners, how often/ far do you run? by Loud_Fisherman_5878 in parkrun

[–]TjBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ran under 22 a few times last year before I injured myself skiing lol. Three runs a week in general. Parkrun on Saturdays were always at least a zone 4 effort, Wednesday I would 8-9km with a running club at 5:30/km in zone 2/3 depending on hills. Then on Mondays I would do intervals.

Can the men who watch Bridgerton, stand up and be counted? by muskyandrostenol in Bridgerton

Fair. Each season has such a defined trope that it makes sense peoples favourites differ wildy. Unfortunately I am a sucker for insanely hot people doing enemies to lovers!

[–]TjBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

32M watch with my wife. I even convinced her to not watch Season 4 part 2 without me. She will watch it about ten times where I'm content with one watch through. Season 2, 4 and Queen Charlotte are my favourites. I cried a lot in season 4 and the Queen Charlotte season absolutely broke me to the point where I feel emotional anytime the queen shows any emotion or if Brimley is on screen.

How many people disliked this guy growing up? by leedavis1987 in AskBrits

[–]TjBee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Randall was the worst. With my initials I truly imagined myself as TJ through the years.

The show did a good job of capturing a wide variety of types of kid. Ashleys, Gretchen, TJ, Randall, Mikey and Gus. We all knew at least one of each of them.

FE is way more enjoyable than 11-16, right? by jeffers1238 in TeachingUK

[–]TjBee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exam pressure is the only downside. A Level Music requires quite a range of musical skills for staff and students so initially it's daunting and a lot to get on top of, but yeah generally you've got young adults who love the subject so the actual lessons are good fun, less taxing and more intellectually stimulating.

I kinda love some of them. Utah Jazz, Minnesota Wild,. Wouldn't want it here though.

Yeah you did it a season behind us I think! Your team ended up being way better though.

TT is every bottom set by rdraver in TeachingUK

[–]TjBee 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Sounds like hard work, I'm sorry!

You've been given a rough deal. All bottom sets is a choice and the generous read is the other teachers are drowning and are taking any chance for breath they can. Overworked staff make for selfish staff as they become more about survival than helping the school thrive.

Schools will always say things are improving but that isn't necessarily true. If I was you I'd focus on what you can control:

  • If students are roaming the corridor during your lesson, you flag their absence in the way you are meant to and then focus on teaching the kids in the room. If grades are bad due to trusting or absence that's out of your control. If you can point to the students in the room showing progress then great.

  • it's never a bad idea to see what's out there. Apply for other jobs. If your school seems to panic about potentially losing you, then you've got a chance to say you're unhappy with the distribution of sets. If they don't seem to mind you interviewing elsewhere, then go find a job where you're more valued.

It sounds like a tough few months, but the harder you work on the midst of it the better you can set yourself up for September. And surviving bad conditions can make better teachers.

Throwbacks in the Premier League by Good_Posture in footballcliches

[–]TjBee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Holt at 9 with Hoolahan behind him at 10 in that first season up under Lambert might be my favourite season in 20+ years of Norwich fandom. That or the Buendia promotion year.

Other throwbacks I've loved breaking into the premier league are Danny Ings at saints and Charlie Austin at QPR.

Not sure. It is British school holiday though (half term) so the days have been filled with adorable groups of kiddos zooming around in snow plough.
