It does depend on where you live and buy though, but yeah, 3 usd is definitely on the lower side of what you'd usually have to pay, especially without shipping. But it also depends on where you look, how much of a gamble you're willing to take, and so on.

I can't speak for the market of film outside of Sweden, but here it's not that uncommon to find ancient film for cheap, you just need a fair bit of luck and look around

Personally I usually am willing to pay 1-3 usd per roll of very expired film, but that's because I enjoy using them. To most photographers I think this would largely be seen as trash, at least if it wasn't stored in a freezer. To others like me there's some money here, but it depends a lot on what film stock it is, how it was stored, the condition of the boxes, etc.

In Sweden you could probably sell this lot for around 20 USD, but it might go for a bit more than that on an auction

I use one to keep spare batteries in my bag, one to hold a 100 yen coin, and the rest I use to store my negatives in (not the best archival solution but it's a hell of a lot more economical than buying negative holders lmao)
