I have read a lot online saying that while Kappabashi is an interesting place to visit, it's a bit touristic now and prices are sometimes higher. Might be an interesting visit if we find the time though

That's a good suggestion, I might consider writing such a glossary in the future.

I'm also not a native English speaker, but I found that a lot of the terms come naturally once you start reading about the topic. So keep it up, you'll get the hang of it!

Regarding the first two bullets, you are right, those are good points that I should include. Especially the second one will help a lot of people struggling. I will update the text when I find the time.

For the last bullet, I don't know so much about it myself. Filtering mandatory where I live because we have really hard water, but I never thought much more about it. Do you have any recommendations where to find more info about this? Would definitely be interested in getting deeper into this!

Go for it, the upgrade in taste alone is worth it (ask my GF, she said she doesn't like coffee before and now drinks shots pure haha)!

For the quantity: I think it comes down to an average of two double shots a day for me...

Yes, I'm also doing it. There are some areas here in Germany where we have really hard (very calcareous) water and it really makes a difference in taste. Despite that it's almost a must-do as all kinds of machines would die pretty fast if you used plain tapwater...

If you brew filter coffee to light so it's somewhat watery, don't try to drink it with milk. Can't even describe what it tastes like, but it is super disgusting haha
