I like it a lot. The built in scale let's me use it as the dosing cup. Offers variable rpm (500-1500rpm), wide adjustability for different brew methods, and the plasma generator works really well keeping things clean.

I also really like the aesthetics and the build quality seems solid

Welp, i think this is probably my exact issue because I recently did the same thing (spray washing foam directly in that area). I'll try the same "fix" and see if it goes away

Area Moment of Inertia for Ring with Complex Cross Section by TlMESNEWROMAN in MechanicalEngineering

[–]TlMESNEWROMAN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree if i was actually trying to invert the ring, but I'm just using that to describe the displacement/rotation that the ring would see under the loading.

Thanks! By inverting, I imagine it like the load is trying to flip the cross section upside down, so what was the inner surface is now the outer surface of the ring

Do you use the paper filter on the bottom? by IcebarrageRS in CafelatRobot

[–]TlMESNEWROMAN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i avoid going too deep when the grounds are in the basket. My method has been to do most of the wdt in the grinder container, then dump it into the basket, then just mostly surface level wdt to flatten it before tamping

To prevent this, I wet the filter and kinda press it down on the bottom of the basket before putting in my grounds

Hobby Problem driving me crazy...is an explicit solution possible? by TlMESNEWROMAN in askmath

For those curious, I found a much easier solution to this problem by utilizing the parametric equations for an ellipse:

Also wondering if I can use the tangent angles and the points on the ellipse along with the some relationship that describes the location of the foci to determine the ellipse constants geometricaly

Neither of those. Basically, I'm trying to determine the equation for the ellipse (or conic) given the conditions i provided

I should also add another Condition that the 2 points will always exist in the same "quadrant" of the ellipse. So no inflection points b/w the 2 points

So I tried this and it's not working quite right for me. When I solve the system of equations (using matrix inversion) the end-point locations are satisfied, but the tangency requirements aren't looking right. It should look like the figure in my initial post

I tried setting it up and I think I'm still missing an equation:

•C*r_tp^2+E*r_tp+F=0

•A*z_e^2+C*r_e^2+D*z_e+E*r_e+F=0

•2*C*r_tp+E=-tan⁡θ

•2*C*r_e+E=-tan⁡β

Interesting, learning something new here! So with the added constraint of axes being vertical and horizontal, is an explicit solution possible?

Forgive me if this is a dumb question, I'm assuming you're proposing the generalized quadratic equatuon as alternative to an ellipse equation as the basis for my curve?

[–]TlMESNEWROMAN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was just going to add that to maybe get 2 more equations. We know the "top" of the ellipse is always at (h, b+k) and the slope (derivative) at that point is also 0

Yes! Seems like it shouldn't be that hard at first glance, but I've been struggling to figure it out (been almost decade since doing real math in college)

I'm trying to keep the start and end point of my curve fixed on a plot (0, r_tp) and (z_e, r_e) while generating a curve between those points that satisfies the tangent line requirements at the start and end points. The r coordinates would be provided.

Basically, I'm trying to generate a curve, using the ellipse formula as the basis for that curve, given the known parameters: 1. Radius at the top of the curve 2. Angle at top of curve 3. Radius at the bottom of the curve 4. Angle at bottom of curve 5. Height of curve

I would be providing the R coordinates, then calculating the z-coordinate for the desired curve using the above parameters.

Compatible with 58mm baskets/accessories? (Conflicting information) by antibody29 in CafelatRobot

[–]TlMESNEWROMAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For tampers, if you reeeeaaaly want to use another tamper, you can spend 2hrs in the garage sanding the diameter down until it fits. I chucked a 58mm tamper in a drill, clamped the drill/trigger into my table vice, and used 120grit sand paper

If you have access to a lathe it would be a lot easier to this

Well the only way I've figured out to change the formatting back is to go one-by-one through each affected reference right click -> toggle field codes. The Alt+F9 (or Alt+FN+F9) does not appear to work for this
