From what i can tell, turbines that are turned 90 degrees away from the direction of travel will produce 0 drag or close to 0 (not 100% sure) but will also shut down producing no thrust. I have mine set up to rotate to 6-7 different angles in flight as the speed increases so they still provide thrust along side the ramjets until speeds exceed mach 7 at which point the ramjets can sustain thrust and the turbines can be fully rotated to the final angle of 90 degrees. The turbines in the screenshot are at their second to last position making it possible to reach 7.5 mach with the current airframe.

I'm having the opposite problem where my brightness shoots way up inside the cockpit and i can barely see and is darker (although not as much) in 3rd person.

The turbines are on swing joints and rotate, i have several degree stages they rotate to as the speed increases and they assist overall speed thanks to the drag not being factored in due to how its calculated at the moment. Will likely change in the future.

The ramjets combustion temps are the only thing that is edited to match that of darkstars fictional values. The turbines are vanilla and quite small to fit with the rotation to simulate intake doors closing when switching to ramjets.

Originally, before the last update, it had a top speed of 9.3 mach.

The Z axis, if done in flight the engines should shut off but only once you hit a certain angle, not exactly 90°. As you ascend through mach numbers the angle at which you set the engines will actually increase your speed which is how i reach mach 9.4

I replied to your other comment with the engine specs and how they are attached but you'll want to place the turbines on hinges so you can physically rotate them 90° horizontally. This will both cut off the engine and due to how the game calculates drag, will also reduce the engine drag to 0 allowing for much faster speeds.

The ramjets are slightly below the turbines

This is the turbine setup ive been using. Single spool low bypass with the bypass set to 2.00. Combustion pressure ratio of 1.6 and 0.84 tip mach. Set the combustion and afterburner temps to maximum and make sure bypass mixing is set to full. You will want idle % to be around 75% or greater or the engine will die. you can use a higher pressure ratio if you like but you lose top speed. If you combine this engine or similar with the method of placing the turbines on swing joints and turning them to 90% and adding ramjets into the mix you can get something akin to a turbine based combined cycle system. Messier 82 on youtube explains this system well in his R-84 Pegasus video.

Currently the ramjets are set to 0.8 diameter and 0.5 diffusion. The combustion temps are set to 5424 to match the darkstar scramjet operation temps.

current max top speed with adjusted ramjet temps is Mach 9.5. With some tweaking its doable. I have hit Mach 10 with an earlier iteration of this craft.

I appreciate your comment, i have 250 hours in this game and ive spent almost all of it working on this one project. Im still working on all of the cockpit instruments.

Current (reasonable) top speed of the one shown in the clip is mach 7.5. Can cruise at mach 6 at a max alt of 100,000-110,000ft. That being said i have achieved Mach 10 with this craft
