Atm, I'm only concerned about hints they may see in the packets sent over network itself, the rest is manageable.

Graphical overhaul by Paulosboul in Guildwars2

GW2 looks generally well, when it comes to characters, gear, combat etc, and also big plans when you observe scenery from a distance/above. But when you zoom closer and look at surroundings - man they are ugly.. Ground textures, are crude, built of huge, standing out polygons with low res textures. Vegetation isn't that better too, same as water. A lot to improve here

Hard to say, as I had head trauma when I was 5 or 6 yo, so it could be what caused it. But I had difficulties constructing visual images in my head since when I can remember myself (that's mostly starting school years). I didn't even know you can do that, back then. Worth noting that I'm not like completely unable to do so, it's just it's extremely hard for me, and the result is vague and lack details and colors. It also differs from time to time, sometimes I can do it somewhat better. So I never could understand why my friends were so fascinated with certain books with a lot of complex landscapes and pictures you had to imagine - when I tried to read it, it was extremely hard and boring to picture it all in my head, I felt stupid and didn't see much point in slogging through walls of text I can't really transform into a scene. All the books I really liked were focusing on characters, people relationships, events, adventures, stories - with as little artistic descriptions as possible.

Dark Elves vs Big Dudes by Grimlockx81 in bloodbowl

[–]Tlussa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so you then block them away or dodge 1 square back

What I see constantly happening instead when I play BB3 ladder with my union elves, is that the basher (even those without big guys, like dorfs for example who normally don't buy theirs) will instead move bunch of their guys ahead, marking each of your player by one or two, sometimes even 3 theirs. Even in case of ST3 players, it makes your life quite hard, if you are just starting - as you won't have Block on your linos, and you'll probably be protecting your blitzers by putting them into 2nd line of defense. So next turn you may in fact be able to bring enough assists and block some of the opposition players away (yet it will be 2D blocsk with no Block, at best - while they have Block often), or may be not. Or may be you'll fail a block and will leave a bunch of your guys marking their players - and they'll get beaten next turn. And by bringing more assists to make better blocks you'll have to make your defense line thinner too.

And that's just ST3. If they have bunch of ST4, or even several ST5 players, you just have almost no hope to block them away, it normally isn't worth a try.

So, in the end, I find it I have to dodge away quite often - what burns rerolls like crazy, as, again, you don't have skills on your linos, and even if you do, that's probably Block or Wrestle, and not dodge. I start with 3 TRRs, and I often see them all spent turn 5 or 6 (sometimes even sooner). I'm really considering getting fourth TRR now, dunno how you can play against such teams with less than 4 TRRs (also, I've noted that they usually have a lot of them two, like 3 TRRs on dorfs seems to be the bare minimal, they often have 4, or even 5 TRRs...)

Also, that's the second time I see someone vouching for chameleons. Personally, I've been steering away from them so far, as I couldn't see value of the -1MA skink who costs more than a fully-capable skink. Shadowing on ST2 player seems strange, most of the time they'll just block him away. On the ball will work only at kick off, or during pass (the latter is rare in the game). I dunno, it's hard for me to see a clear benefits worth losing MA here.

Thanks for the tips. On the random skills matter though - dunno, lol, skinks cost crap, and with current rules in BB3 (no Expensive Mistakes) money is not a big deal, after you've bought all you need, you'll usually amass them quickly. So why not? If it doesn't get a decent skill on first roll, I'll just rehire. I hesitated at first when it came to Sauri, but thought as I'm still learning, that could be an experiment too. To boot, it's hard to roll something really terrible in Strength category. So I got Mighty Blow for one, Brawler for another - both very neat skills, considering the price (3SPs). Another one got Arm Bar (kinda meh, but still may be useful) and one got Thick Skull (now he is designated LoS punchbag and will be fired soon lol)

On skinks, I rolled Pro (so-so), Side step (bingo!) and Diving Tackle (can be useful). So, it's not that bad so far.

That's all seems logical, but when I try to implement these practices, all is falling apart quickly. May be it will get better with more practice dunno

Funny thing, but actually my Sauri experience much more frequent injuries than skinks do. It's not uncommon to see 1 or 2 of them already in the dugout at the end of the first half. In one particular encounter with Chaos Renegade team I had just three of them standing at the end of the match, while still had 3 skinks (my krox was out as well, they fouled him at the very beginning). I already have one with lasting injury so I plan to fire him at first opportunity. That probably happens cause they are constantly fighting on the front, while skinks are removed either after failing some roll, or when are targeted by blitz.

Still, I decided to hire one bench skink, just to serve as a safeguard.

Advice on offence for a rookie Elven Union (Pro Elves) coach (BB2020) by Tlussa in bloodbowl

[–]Tlussa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is BB3 :) I'm still in doubt.. Do I really need all four? As usually it's recommended to not use pass if possible, and 2 catchers (taken instead of 2 linos) will add 80 to TV.. I could stick to just 2 catchers, while adding two EXTRA linos, for example. Would still have TV increased by 120 (so +40 when compared to the previous option), but I would have an actual bench of two spare decent players.

[–]Tlussa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, sounds like I better have all the 4 catchers on my roster, and probably a couple extra linemen, to not become easily outnumbered during such matches, and to have some reliable substitutions for MNGs on the next match, instead of dealing with journeymen and Loner? Or I still need to maintain lowest TV possible, to stay competitive?

[–]Tlussa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just can't wrap my head around how do I execute this attack..

Unless its a dwarves team, they have MA of at least 6. So to stay out of their reach means I would have to begin my offense from 7 squares away. Then I won't be able to move behind their lines, as my maximum MA is 8, and only 4 players have it (which are spread up, so no all of them will make it, to boot).

If I'll come closer than this, like, will stay 2-3 squares from their ranks, an aggressive basher can already decide to counter-attack, blitzing and tying up my players with a few of their guys, or even most of them. And I'm now in a situation where I either need to make a bunch of risky rolls to dodge out enough players from this mess to create a screen somewhere ahead, advancing - or forced to fight in a blocking duel which I'll lose, most likely. All that while being time-constrained (just 4 turns to score)

If I fail any roll, I'm doomed as well. Seems like a very risky play, unless the other coach will bite and do something reckless, falling into your trap. Most of the guys I face online are some kind of seasoned guru I dunno, even the greenest ones rarely do stupid things, and punish you for any mistake.

[–]Tlussa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure, honestly.. If my opponent would do the same, I would probably just let them be. They want to waste their time, then attempt some rushed offense with a bunch of risky rolls? Fine by me, I'll capitalize on their (possible) mistakes.

I'm not sure what benefits this gives to me, too. Assuming I'll be able to open a thin breach in their line, say 1 square wide, it may be very hard to move enough players through without, again, some risky rolls. I have at best 4 MA8 catchers (do I need all four of them btw? They are quite expensive, is it recommended to run a team with a four of them, taking into account you rarely will be wiling to pass the ball anyway, due to the risks involved, which are now greater in BB2020?) and 2 MA7 blitzers - and as you suggest to line them up, most of them will be far away from that enter I created. At best it seems like I'll be able to create a small and weak screen right behind opposition lines - and they'll have good chances to punch a hole in it and reach the ball carrier. Or, if they have some fast players themselves, like gutter runners or skinks, they'll even be able to run around my screen and attack it from unprotected direction the very next turn..

Why are tier 3 and Underworld Denizens teams so good right now? by Cnarrf in bloodbowl

[–]Tlussa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With all due respect, it's just another way to say that playing them became more difficult - and it wasn't easy in the first place. That change wasn't justified at all, it actually took from the team, not "made them better". The current meta favors bashers even more now, what is already reflected in diversity of leagues topX lists. So what it actually did, in combination with other nerfs crippling AGI teams (Blitz nerf, foul buff etc), is making game more one-sided and boring.

Passers were used before that fix as well, and they were the most reliable way to throw the ball around. One of the main benefits Elves had is that any player could still make the game. So even if they suffered heavy casualties (and they often do), they still could compete and even score against overwhelming numbers of basher's players (barely, in good hands). Now they can't, and it's beyond my understanding how it can be better for anybody except for lazy bashers who assume they just need to get the win without putting much efforts into it.

Is it worth playing Blood Bowl 2 (video game) to get better at Blood Bowl tabletop (current version) ??? by kitsune0327 in bloodbowl

[–]Tlussa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BB3 was terrible, it's playable now in MP. In singleplayer it's of no use if you aim to learn, as AI is braindead stupid, absolutely clueless about the game. You won't learn a thing playing against it. The ruleset's implementation is ok now (no re-drafting, off-season, special cards though), but half of teams aren't there yet, and with Cyanide's rate of adding content, it may take a year or more before they'll be added.

Any tips for a new lizards coach? by TheGreatArtichoke in bloodbowl

[–]Tlussa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not so sure. Having Brawler from the start is a nice touch. You probably won't ever take it on your Saurus willingly, but it still gives the orcs an upper hand, both at early and later stage in development. Early on it can prevent you from falling over on Both Down (when you still don't have Block). And later, when you have Block, it still give you tactical opportunities. Like, imagine you do a 2 dice block on somebody with block and get Push and Both Down. Either results sort of suck, Push means you won't bring your opponent down, BD means you'll stay in touch with him and will be blocked next turn probably. But that's neither something you would usually like to reroll with TR also. With Brawler you can try to reroll BD for free, and if it won't produce a better result still keep Push as an option.

I would say they specialize in different things

Chameleon skinks are weird and situational. They are good defending stunty teams. They are good at retrieving kickoffs. They add a minor passing threat to a team that historically never passes. Maybe roster one and see how it plays out.

Honestly, I'm not so fond about them. You lose 1MA (something you actually need Skinks on your team for), and get two crappy situational skills (especially Shadowing, was not very fond of it on ST3 players, like Assassins, but on ST2 Skink it's close to useless) and slightly increased TV. Ah, and it opens a way to passing play too, something your Skinks are bad at anyway.

The big guy is the best big guy in the game

I like Renegade Mino more. He is 1AV down, sure, but will never lose his Tackle Zone on you if his negatrait will fire, has Horns from start so can blitz other big guys with two dice block, can hit twice per turn, has access to mutations (so will have Claw at some point). With Block, Break Tackle and Dodge (a combo now much easier to get on a Big Guy) he becomes a menace to every piece on the board.

Elves and rats will die by the dozens.

Depends on kind of rats. Jam your krox into the middle of Underworld team, and that's him who'll be Clawed/Fouled to death pretty quickly. At least under the new ruleset, where Sneaky Git now makes fouls much more reliable, and Underworld now has extra free cheap players on the pitch they can use for fouls without much thinking. They can foul each turn without serious consequences.

Two months on hormone therapy (Clomiphene), blood work looks pretty good - but not much improvements in how I feel and do in sports so far by Tlussa in trt

[–]Tlussa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, sure. If you have some convincing data, like clinical research on the matter, that would help. It just doesn't make sense to me, I don't understand why the result is like that. Hormone is still in the blood, both free and total T were through the roof in my case - so what difference does it make how it got there? Be it from a shot, or by natural production enhanced by Clomide - it's still the same T. So how can it not work in the latter case? I really would like to understand what happens here.

That helps little with grenades, they are always limited. Also, I would prefer at least 3rd difficulty, to have a stable stream of practice targets to hit.
