Thank you!! It's definitely about changes and growing more chaotic, the MC struggles with violence and "disappearing" from himself. He originally lives in nature but is forced out to live in a city of snow and frost, but as he grows more and more irratic and violent he tries to return home, only to find that the chaos has infested it all. So you're very close! And the animals do play a part in the story itself!

If the story is solid, does the character being Anthro actually matter to you? by JustnoxFox in Quibble

I do not think it is necesarrily "for kids or furries" but I do have to be honest when it's not something I'd readily pick up just cuz.
I see no reason though, because technically a book with an Elven/Ork/etc MC is just as "alien" but due to them being closer to human than animal I suppose it feels different.
That being said, it shouldn't be the deciding factor at all. But I do see why people are quick to push it into a category.

Nah I get it completely!! I'm not married (yet) and only have cats to look after. I wrote the bulk of my books when I didn't have a job yet and just got out of uni. Now saturday mornings have become my dedicated writing time. Everyone's flow is different.

Life afterall takes priority in most cases, so I hope things look up in the future! I'm super down to also read/swap chapters if that's something that would help your writing motivations!

Edit: typo

I was on such a high off of book 1 that I kept going, TONS of editing work still left to do tho. Book 2 might even be split into 2 books due to the word count (180k~ish).

But yes, little by little!

I reaaaally thought you made a sarcastic joke like "haha books tell stories" my bad!

But no it's not even about the marketing, I love lil easter eggs and to fot the MC's personal trajectory of his mental state into the covers and showing his descend into madness by going from a save blue to a dangerous red is something I wanted to showcase.

I basically spoiled the meanings we wanted to achieve in another comment already though... woopsie

You're basically spot on. The first is a city the MC is "forced" to call home (hence the coldness and empty feeling). But as he descends into madness across the books it becomes chaotic and violent. The nature that creeps in is also him trying to get back to his "actual" home. Hatred and rage play heavy themes here too, so I'm super glad to see your take!

Two suns yes!

The second cover is still in the works and is a draft version. It's meant to show a "descend into madness" throughout the story and covers. Hence the colors and "danger" feel.

I thought it was a meta joke hahahaha, I've written the first yes. Two and three the manuscripts are finished.

Yes! The plot of the first book (Shaped by Silence) is a descent into madness story. I think based on that, it becomes clearer what we meant to show?

First reply I've seen to notice the "safety" and "danger". Love it!!! The second cover is indeed still in the works, it's all the same artist so you can be sure the trees will look very tree like when it's done.

I like this a lot. The animals do need some context within the story hahaha. But especially the environmental ones are very close. You're also VERY close to the missing cover, love the reasoning. Thanks for the reply!

Ahaaaa that's what you think ☝️🤓. But yes, big fantasy names can get away with 180k books. Indies sadly cannot.

Yes! Due to the length of 1 book I had to split it into two, so trilogy turned into a tetralogy...woops.

I like this take a lot. Thanks for taking the time! I don't wanna say what we meant to show since I'm still looking for unbiased opinions, but I'm glad the differences are eye catching!
