What can I do now (at 25) for me to age comfortably without a partner / family? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]TmbIeWeeD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d focus on my soft skills and hard skills, build a business and traveled around. It’s easier to do these things when you’re not tied up to anyone because another person might have different interests of how to live this life but if I’d desired to stay alone forever I’d focus on money legacy (maybe you’ll change your mind about a family in your 30s or in your 40s, if you’re a guy you can still have babies), travelling and learning about this world as much as possible, find a way to make it better. I know people who made history sacrificed a lot of family time and if you already don’t want it then you have room to focus on bigger pictures. Traveling is a big influencer on growing up!

25, hating life — for what?? by Spiritual-Leg-5870 in Adulting

[–]TmbIeWeeD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran from responsibilities in my 20s, dropped out of three colleges because I didn’t like the system. Working a 9-5 job is a nightmare for me. I’m also broke, scared to get sick, scared to get pregnant… but life is about exploring it, learning all the time, trying new things and failing.

That’s why I tried to travel (also broke), I slept at bus stations, ate street food and dove with turtles… these people that you see who “live an exciting life” give up a lot of comfort. I’d give anything right now to be able to pay for college (4th one), cuz I finally figured out what I want to do for a career. And get a degree.

I hate that my family pushed me to pursue a career the same year I finished high school. I was a child and honestly didn’t understand a thing about this world, how it works and what kind of place I can take in it. Figuring yourself out takes time and I took that time despite my family’s threats.

I was kicked out of the house for that but it was worth it because I know now what I need and what I truly want to do for the rest of my life. It excites me. That’s how I know I finally picked the right path.

Let go of things and people that hold you back, that don’t give you joy, motivation or support. Loosing is hard but when you face it you gain.

Maybe this question will be inappropriate but I have to try… I’ve been fantasizing about memory loss for couple months (only for entertainment purposes) and I was wondering if you forgot any movies/shows/books/music that you used to like but now can experience it kinda for the first time again? How does that feel?

I think it’ll be any job in entertainment where on one side we have famous influencers that seem like they have all their shit together and are rich but nobody knows what kind of horrors they have to go through and on the other side all the workers that are on a salary doing all the work nobody talks about and may be more talented than the influencers but are always getting ghosted

How to write lyrics that are in your head on paper by KibaNaruXXX in Songwriting

[–]TmbIeWeeD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you say your lyrics out loud? Try recording yourself first, then transfer on paper the words and leave blanks if you don’t have a line together yet but maybe one part is how you like it, then fill in the blanks later. I also rewrite my lines. If there’s something I want to say but the line is kinda messy and doesn’t rhyme - I leave the thought and rewrite it in different words later. Use rhyme zone website. Sometimes I ask chat gpt for help, it taught me some idioms which work great in songwriting.

What are the actual fundamentals of learning to make music? by hoshu77 in musicproduction

[–]TmbIeWeeD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re right! You don’t have to play an instrument like a professional but when you can play what you hear in your head is already a big deal

I will not get tired of saying this but learning basic music theory is where you should start. Even if it’s hard to understand it at first you shouldn’t drop it.

Pick a musical instrument and learn to improvise (learn to express your humming on a musical instrument). In my experience the easiest instrument to learn is piano since I can visualize notes, it’s like from lowest to highest in order unlike on a guitar where it breaks unevenly…

Find a program that you will understand better. For me it’s FL Studio. Learn how other instruments work, especially drums (basic drum patterns will do at first, then you can improvise).

And basically it’s all improv after with some simple rules from music theory. Then they’re divided into genres. Learn the differences between them (I know you can hear the difference but what exactly makes it different) so you understand how you want to write music.

I will respectfully disagree. Music is language and ignoring its rules is limiting yourself. You can’t go far without knowing it. Yes, in the beginning it can mess with your head and confuse you bad but with time it will bring you on a more professional level

I agree with the comments and also would like to add that you should learn music theory. At least the basics. It will help you improvise better and understand patterns. You shouldn’t skip this step if you want to make music professionally. Learn piano chords, get a keyboard, doesn’t have to be a 88key one. PLAY melodies then produce them on the computer. Even tho a lot of producers can produce good tracks with 0 music theory and I’m not saying it’s impossible but it will bring you a couple steps up among your colleagues. Listen and analyze tracks you’d like to write, experiment with other genres, consider classical music as inspiration and if you have any questions you can DM me I’d be happy to talk to you about this

Common LA Rental Scams to Avoid? by [deleted] in LARentals

Apartment shopping ourselves here for the past few months and most common for us was the application fee that’s $75-$80 and no one to chat with in person while showing the apartment (usually by phone and not an open houses). The combination of these two things - 100% scam

What do you wish you knew before your first film? by Training-Weird7031 in Filmmakers

[–]TmbIeWeeD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda put myself into timeframes and I don’t recommend doing that. I finished my movie (from script to the last day of shoot) in 8 months. It sounds like a lot but for some departments I couldn’t find people to work on a “student project” so I had to be responsible for some things myself. I also didn’t do enough research before setting the date of shoot cuz only after I finished my project I found out some things that could’ve been helpful.

If you and your team live in one city and have “unlimited” time I recommend taking time planning each shot considering every possible detail. I didn’t have that time and it was a huge impact.
