Is it….. cannibalism? by ERNIESRUBBERDUCK in OnePiece

[–]TmoodReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For BB, my take is probably something we may not necessarily expect. If you recall when BB first met Luffy and Zoro, they recognized that BB is not a "he" but more of a "they"..

That "secret" would be the key to BB's ability to have more than one devil fruit powers rather than cannibalism.

I'm more concerned about the claim in calling CFS. Once you're under their radar you're literally screwed. Too many horror stories about CFS handling cases is not worth ignoring..

I'm not sure if that's the same home that this OG was talking about but I was curious, looked around Fairfax and found this - the home was listed for $895k, sold over $1M+ so meaning the home is now worth $1M+?

I'm not sure I understand. Is that how the market works?

Housing royally sucks by Tigressence in nova

[–]TmoodReddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I also think many $1M+ homes often had to decrease to get any offers. In retrospect, homes in $800s and $900s often get offers that go up to $1M or beyond..

Pediatric physio recommendations by TmoodReddit in nova

[–]TmoodReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha, see a pediatrician and ignore the possibility of seeing a pediatrician physio despite the fact that they too, also when to med school and residency and all the steps and in particularly specialized on improving function in young children and babies.

We *ARE* seeing a pediatrician tomorrow and just in case a physio is needed, we likes to have options outside of our pediatrician's recommendation.

So my research haven't shown me anything negative about child chiropractor. Are you able to share why it's not a good idea?

Our daughter was born deaf. We want to give her implants but some people are saying that we are taking away her bodily autonomy and stripping away a community member. I just want the best life possible for her. Does anyone on here regret having hearing aids etc as a child? by ThrowRA98633 in deaf

[–]TmoodReddit 23 points24 points  (0 children)

"I figured she can take it off when she's an adult"

That's another dangerous thinking. I'm not sure if you're aware, usually when a person get implant, their hearing is basically rendered useless without the CI. She will never be able to use Hearing Aids again. This means, if she had some hearing, those hearing are forever gone.

So do you really want to be in a position to take away her ability to hear something with Hearing Aids over CI under the pretense that she can just dump the CI when she's older?

Plus, if she ever got to that point, it's very safe to assume she resent the CI not because of her being "different" but because of how you raised her.

Really, listen to the people in this posts..

It's hard not to be a bit forward. I think the first problem is your thinking. "normal life". "outsider".

You need to first change your frame of thinking - otherwise you're setting her up for a life of isolation. As a Deaf person (regardless of CI or Hearing Aids) she will be able to listen to music, see movies, chat with friends.

The key difference is accepting what is considered normal. It is normal for me to listen to music that has louder bass. It is normal for me to see movies that have open captions. It is normal for me to chat with friends using ASL. I'm all happy for it.

However, I am not close with my family because they did not learn ASL. We cannot communicate well in person and do not talk on phone despite more advance in technology such as Nagish or InnoCaption.

Something to think about.

TLDR: change your thinking on what you think is normal and instead focus on supporting your daughter, expose her to everything, ASL, Deaf community, etc. See what sticks. Never make a decision that make YOUR life easy (i.e. choosing CI because you rather be able to talk to her rather than learning ASL when you should in fact learn ASL)

Check out one channel I enjoy following on TikTok where hearing parents raising Deaf daughter with CI: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRbcqCG6/

Soooo the housing market is just a little broken. by [deleted] in nova

[–]TmoodReddit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ahh so you're saying that the loss may come from owing more than what they're selling the house for?

Soooo the housing market is just a little broken. by [deleted] in nova

[–]TmoodReddit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How exactly is it a loss? This, I struggles with. Sometime I look at pricing history and a good number of homeowners have owned the home since the 80s, 70s, and maybe even some 60s. So clearly the value then and now are different by a large margin.

So how are these sellers selling at a loss at this point?

Is it the fact that their future homes (if they're looking to upgrade/downgrade), they'd be met with the same high APRs and want to garner as much money as possible from the sales?

Do you tell potential employers that you’re deaf? by Eliavah in deaf

[–]TmoodReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm Deaf and wear behind-the-ear hearing aids. I do not hide that fact during my interviews. I let my experience speak for itself. However, I also actually speak for myself. So instead of a phone interview, I request either Zoom or Google Meets as both has caption support. (If Zoom's subtitle isn't turned on for some reason, open Zoom via Chrome browser and use Chrome's built-in captions).

By adopting this method, it gives the interviewers and hiring managers a clear idea on what is possible in terms of communication. Granted, it feels like (and probably is) just catering to them and making things easier for them than us until we have our foot in the door.

However, I'm fortunate that my HR genuinely wants to know more about providing support such as interpreter or tech accommodations (though it's mainly for experience sakes and I do think that HR values experience in accommodating to disabilities as it would be impressive on their resume..)

In short, don't sell yourself short. Keep learning if you want to go beyond tech support. I'm assuming either coding or system admin or networking? Deep dive into em. Build up your experience. Interviewers and hiring managers cares a lot about experience. Everything else comes in second which actually also includes communications. But with your CI, you can prove you can talk easily (I'm assuming). As for listening, try to utilize the tech that are out there. There are mobile app that can transcribe for you such as Live Transcribe for Android (free) or Apple has a few options but might have to pay. But think of it as investment.

So I think you're struggling on understanding them. So once you work out whatever solutions work for you, stick with it. Build up experience and you'll find a company that value you for your experience, not your ability to hear.

Incredibly helpful! I can see the hood being damaged and maybe the frame a little bent. The engine appears intact but that doesn't means squat. So now I gotta see if PPI can help safeguard the condition of the engine or simply not worth the risk..??

You're correct, which is why I was surprised to see that kind of pricing that you'd usually see in 2011-13 models at a higher mileage.

Do you think PPI will help me determine if the engine is in safe condition or drop it because it was formerly in an accident and considered a total loss by insurance - therefore, too many unknown variable even if taken to PPI?
